Euphonium is part of the TUBA family!,
This review is from: Phat Bottom Tubas (Audio CD)
Hard to believe the other reviewer does not seem to know that a euphonium is part of the low brass (TUBA) family. In the circle of ones who really know brass, the euphonium is sometimes referred to as a tenor tuba! This is the case MOST of the time, when you see a tuba ensemble recording, it will have euphoniums in it.

My daughter is a 16 year-old tuba player, planning on becoming a music teacher, and I wanted to get her a unique Christmas gift. Phat Bottom Tubas certainly fit the bill. Our entire family had a ball listening to it Christmas Day.
The music selection is fun, with popular songs. It moves along and if a person listens at all, they have to wonder "How can they play that well?!" It's quite an accomplishment. It's a live recording, and there's lots of applause and cheering in the background, which adds to the fun, despite the fact that I usually don't like hearing background noise. I highly recommend this cd to anyone interested in low brass, and we will definitely buy more of Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble's cd. Our only complaint, which is small, is that it also includes euphoniums. I think that's likely necessary in order to cover the range necessary for the music performed, so maybe I'm adding this as a disclaimer rather than complaint. |
