3.0 out of 5 stars Solid production but nothing special here July 19, 2012
By Dutch
Format:Audio CD
Phazed Out is compilation of remixed tracks, by Australian producer M-Phazes, from Coalmine Record's catalog and I rather expected more. The production is good but a little lacking from a drum aspect. The production of the beats is solely handled by M-Phazes while the mixing is handled by DJ Rhettmatic. The basslines are nice but the use of samples is rather simple and the drums also simple while being typical and generic. The remixed vocals had nice lyrics for the most part, with a nice selection of vocals but some beats too not fully do the lyricists justice as I noticed a few artists of awkward flows over the new beat. The album has a mixtape format as the tracks flow into each other but nothing special here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hip-Hop At It's Best! May 10, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I've heard few beats from M-Phazes before I heard this project, but not enough to have a real opinion on his production. But, after hearing this I can honestly say M-Phazes is my top ten favorite hip-hop producer. The beats on this album hit and knock harder than anything I've heard in a few years. These are the highest of quality beats and really hip-hop at it's best. Some of my favorite mcs are on here from Saigon, Termanology, J-Live, Torae and Heltah Skeltah, and they all deliver. My favorite tracks are Underground Railroad, Midnight Madness, and Another Classic, these tracks are some of the best tracks I've heard all year and that's why this album might be in my Top Ten Albums of 2012. It's That Good! If you want some good quality hip-hop that you can rock your head to, Pick This Up Immediately!
