This CD is one of the best CD's in zydeco that I've heard so far. J. Paul has come a long way. From being a big fan maybe a number one fan I must say. He is a great performer in action. He can put on a awsome show. Every song on the Phenomenon CD is easy listening great dancing to. So J. Paul you keep up the good.

J. Paul & the Zydeco Newbreedz Getting it Krunk!,

I personally think that this CD is the best one that the J Paul & the Newbreedz has released so far. From the beginning to the end it kept me bopping in my seat. To see them perform live is even more thrilling. I also feel that they are THE BEST ZYDECO BAND IN THE LAND, simply because they keep it real. Keep up the good work! Ms. Iman

This is a great cd, but then again I love every J Paul cd. I am a really big fan and go to his shows every time that I can. If you love zydeco or want to experience zydeco, this is a great choice.

Hands down, this is one of the best by far CD's released by J. Paul Jr. and Zydeco Nubreedz. Whether you've never heard of this southern music before or if you've ever been interested in experiencing it, this is the one to sample!! Each track delivers a different array of musical textures, which is the now coined "nubreed style" mixing hip hop, r&b and traditional zydeco.Creative flow arrangements are definitely displayed in "Come Back Nikki", taken from The Artist formerly known as Prince's "Darling Nikki", But it's definitely only the idea and words replicated not the tune. Also "No Sad Song" and "I never...ever meant" are a great remixed arrangements. But, what makes Phenomenom even more exciting and worth listening to are it's rich originals that make The Nubreedz stand apart from other zydeco bands. Track 4 & 5: "Same Groove" and "Where My Soldiers At?" are two of my favorites. These are definitely two of the many Nubreedz songs that could be enjoyed listening to are grooving. The interlude dialogue and introductions could have been avoided, but I think I understand where he was headed. Above all if each of J. Paul Jr. and The Zydeco Nubreedz CD's continue to get better and better like they have been, zydeco is headed to the Mainstream and J. Paul Jr. is the one that will take it there! |
