I've been a fan of Phiaton ever since experiencing their MS 300 (which I still use outdoors). The PS500 is clear, with full bass that does not overpower yet maintains a distinct, thumpy presence along the crisp mids and highs. It blends optimally while still not being muddy. Instrumental separation is good enough for studio monitoring (for which I use as well), but not to the point where every horn blare and guitar picking will tug at your inner ear. You can hear everything and every thing at once. Sound stage is full and not constricting. This is one aspect that was not peak quality about the MS300 (which I realized after using the PS500). The space of sound/music is not cramped and elicits a feeling of openness. Of course, being semi-closed headphones, don't expect every gush of wind and airflow to be part of the experience. I find that a good thing. Impedence is decent. Not the loudest headphones you'll find, but you've no need for an amplifier simply for boosting the signal. Good for iPods, at least. Overall, I like everything from classical music to the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Doors, Muse, Queen, Switchfoot, and Eminem. No song from these headphones has let me down, at least in terms of sound quality. I recommend these very enthusiastically.

This headset is phenomenal. Deep rich sound and very comfortable. That said, there are a couple of points that some might not like as much. 1) the headphones are a bit on the heavy side, compared to many. I didn't find this a problem, just noticed it when I first put them on. However, I've used these for as many as 10 hours per day and found them comfortable the entire time.2) The cloth-wrapped cord is a bit bigger than usual for headphones. Again, I like this factor, but some may not. 3) No case. This is the one point that I didn't like - most headsets come with a carrying or storage case. All in all, better than the Bose on-ear or around ear sets.

Sometimes you can hear the heavy cord moving through the headphones, but again the sound is awesome! Worth the money spent...

These are the best headphones I have used in a long time. The sound quality is superb! And they are very comfy! However, the only problem I have with them, is that there is no case for them! I can't travel with these!
