The stroller strolls great, but once my kids were near the weight limit (my younger one was 23lbs in the back and older was 35 in the front--weight limit is 33 in back and 50 in front), the stroller was harder to maneuver.

THIS IS NOT A TRUE JOGGER. It is far too heavy even when our little ones were only 14lbs and 26lb. It is hard to control with only one hand.

Hoods are helpful only when the sun is coming from the back--otherwise, they don't shift in different positions.

The under basket is completely useless when you have the toddler seat attached to the back--forget about getting things in and out of there when you have a baby who is sleeping and you don't want to disturb or when the second baby is kicking you. The basket is also a bit hard to reach when the stroller is set to newborn carriage (flat position) and the toddler is clipped to the front. Usually, our baby was asleep and you would really have to reach to get to what you needed in the basket.

Don't even think about strapping on your diaper bag on the handlebars when you have more than one child--either it hits the newborn in the flat position or constantly right in front of the toddler in the rear seat.

Reclining is also useless if there is a second child in the back. The child in front can only recline so much before they are invading their younger sibling's space. Also, the rear can recline but only about 5 degrees more than the upright position.

The stroller was a bit more functional once we bought the extras--the panier bags so that we can store kids things without using the under basket, the double sun cover so that they had sun protection, the hang bag so that we can quickly store cups and the food tray so that our child in front can snack while we were out. It is just annoying because of the money you spend, you would think they would think of these little conveniences.

In the end, I wish I would have spent an extra $100-150 to get the higher end models--the vibe. At least with the vibe, you can fold the stroller with both seats attached as opposed to having to remove the second seat to fold down. The higher end models also had sun hoods that were more retractable and can move to fully protect. The higher end models also had more comfortable seats because it comes with the standard cushy pad.

4.0 out of 5 stars We had the Stroller for 7 years! January 12, 2011
The Phil and Ted's Classic Stroller with Double Kit is the same buggy as the Single Stroller and as you can tell though, there is the option of inserting a second seat at the bottom of the single stroller.

I chose this option when I had my second child and boy did we depend on it as a single stroller. Not much is different about the Double Buggy
so I'll post the review to the single stroller here again, but first let me say a couple pros and cons as far as the double kit goes.
Product Features

* Ergonomic, 2 position adjustable handle
* Steel Frame
* Double rear foot brake
* Seat reclines 3 positions
* Reclining seat on the doubles kit
2 Position Adjustable Handle

My husband really appreciated the 2 position handle as it changes for someone who is pushing the stroller that is taller. It did feel more ergonomic when adjusted, and I would also adjust it when taking an exercise class with the stroller where I had to hold my arms more upright, with my elbows extended out like a butterfly.

Steel Frame

I didn't really notice the steel frame too much. I think I only noticed it in the foot brake since it seemed different to me than the cheapy red plastic food brakes I'd seen on other strollers, and since we knocked around our double buggya lot, I think the steel frame is a good thing :)

Double Rear Foot Brake

Again, I didn't really notice the foot brake other than it was made of steel, but it worked well so I didn't have a problem with it. Like I said, it was easier to use than those cheapo red plastic brakes on most strollers.

Seat reclining in 3 positions

I DEFINITELY depended on this feature because there were many times I took the baby out while he was napping, or just starting to fall asleep and instead of having to look for an extra crib or something if we were at a friend's house, I'd just use my buggy. This was perfect because he was a stomach sleeper and needed to sleep flat rather than in a squashed car seat position. I make high maintenance children :)

Reclining seat on the doubles kit

This is a new feature on the stroller that I think is just awesome! That means, you can put the second child that sits on the bottom down for a nap too in the stroller, not on her belly but more reclined than before. And that's great because as that child on the bottom grows, you'll need to give her some extra foot room anyhow so the recline feature sounds great.

Like I mentioned in my other review of the Classic buggy there have been a LOT of enhancements since I used the stroller 7 years ago, and all of them look for the better to me.

The only other downside I would say which is not a fault of Phil and Ted's at all but goes back to my high maintenance children, is that the child sitting on top would sometimes lean down to bother the child at the bottom. And vice versa. Like I said, definitely more of my own parenting skills needed here than a manufacturing issue.

When I had the two kids close in age though, I wouldn't have traded my double buggy for anything!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best double stroller February 8, 2013
By C. West
Love this stroller. We have used it as both a double and a single.

The rules:
You aren't supposed to put an infant in the front (using car seat adapter) and a bigger kid in the back, but we did it just fine.

You're supposed to put the heavier one in the front, and we did both ways (mine are about 10 pounds difference)no issues.

And lastly, you're not supposed to put children over whatever the weight limit, and we did that as well (using both seats). So if you think your kids will outgrow this too soon based on weight limit, think again.

The only possible cons I can think of are it's kind of annoying to have people stop and ask what brand this is. I think I made a lot of money for PnT based on that alone. I could think of a few improvements, larger sun shield, sun shield on jump seat, lighter frame, easier folding, but I think all of that is covered in the newer models. I still think this is the best double stroller on the market.

You're not saying 'excuse me' all the time like most doubles.
