5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This is a fantastic piece of equipment. If I could afford to, I would buy one for all of my mommy friends. I HATE high chairs because of how much space they take up, how impossible they are to clean and their bad design. This chair hold my 28 lb 1 year old now, and will hold him until he weighs 40 lbs - fantastic! He sits right at the counter while I cook or get...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, but with flaws, December 12, 2007
This review is from: Phil & Ted's Me Too! Hook on High Chair Color: Red (Baby Product)
I have to admit that I selected two of these chairs for our twins because Phil and Ted's is known for their thoughtful, minimalist design. Perhaps these chairs are a bit too minimalist.

They are constructed of quality material, but offer no support for the children who sit in them. Their backs rest against a metal tube which is the frame of the chair. The bottom is only connected to the frame through the fabric, so the design precludes back support.

In addition, the chairs are secured with wing nuts that tighten to the underside of the table. While they are very strong, they are exceedingly difficult to remove. In our chairs, the metal pad that distributes the load of the bolt to the table often falls off when removing the chairs.

Perhaps most aggravating is the inability to properly clean the fabric since it cannot detach from the metal frame. It's no secret that babies can be messy. Soft foods and liquids seeping into the nylon fabric (and foam in the bottom) is inevitable. Spot cleaning is not sufficient for cleaning these chairs. The only success I have had so far is to completely soak them, including the foam in the seat. Because of the foam, they do not dry properly and risk developing mildew.

There isn't much they could change in the design to address these issues without virtually remaking the design. A liner would be of great benefit, especially if it offered some back support. Everything we have used to line the seats with interfere with the safety strap system. But then, the straps don't stay on babies shoulders well and either come off on their own, or are easily slipped off by a baby.

I wish I had better things to say about this product. We've owned our chairs for over a year, and whatever virtues they had when new have disappeared entirely from my memory.

This chair hold my 28 lb 1 year old now, and will hold him until he weighs 40 lbs - fantastic! He sits right at the counter while I cook or get things done, the simple, minimalistic design can be cleaned so easily and he loves swinging his feet underneath. When it's time to go, I unscrew the two grips, flatten the whole chair (flattens to the size of a 1 inch binder) and pop it into my briefcase or his baby bag. FANTASTIC!

5.0 out of 5 stars We love it!, June 3, 2007
By
Eve "joojeve" (los angeles, ca) - See all my reviews
We initially bought this highchair for a trip but it ended up being so convinient that we are using it every day. Attaching the seat to the table is super easy and takes up a couple of minutes, plus it folds up so compact that you can put it in a diaper bag. Clean up is also super convinient, you can either wash it or wipe it with a wet cloth. I just rinse the whole thing under water (specially after a teething biscuit mess:) and it dries up in no time. My daughter loves to sit on the same level as us and another friend of mine who has an older child says it is the only chair her son can not escape from! The only little flaw with this chair is that if you go to a restaurant with thicker tables, you can not attach the seat (but this is a minor flaw, since it has only happened to us once). We love this product so much that it has become my official baby shower gift.

1.0 out of 5 stars Two children have already fallen and hit their heads!, July 3, 2008
This review is from: Phil & Ted's Me Too! Hook on High Chair Color: Red (Baby Product)
I don't know how no one else has had this problem. We have it completely connected to our table, it does have a lip so about 1/4 of an inch gap is left between the bars running parallel to the table. Every time I stick a child in it, the screws loosen a little bit and it sags, so I always make sure to retighten the screws before I stick my baby in it again. The first time a child fell, it was my friend's 18 month old who started bouncing up and down in it and it completely became loose and fell off with him falling straight back onto his head. I figured the boy was too heavy so just with my 17 pound baby I was careful with it. This morning I tightened the bolts and put him in it and a second later he was on the floor. The black pads on it had completely become unglued so the chair slipped right off the table. I'm trying it without the black pads, but it still loosens every time! I'm so frustrated with this stupid thing! If anyone know what I'm doing wrong, please tell me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't live without this chair!, April 11, 2007
This review is from: Phil & Ted's Me Too! Hook on High Chair Color: Red (Baby Product)
This chair is an absolute must have for parents with small children. It is lightweight and folds up so flat that it fits into one of our diaper bags. Our son is now 16 months old and 24 pounds and there is plenty of room to grow. When the chair is clamped into place...it is not going anywhere. At first we worried it would fall off, but we've been using it for 6 months plus and we have never had a problem. It's great because your child is right there with you and not at some funky angle or height, plus you can ensure the seat is clean. I wipe it down after each use and ours still looks brand new.

We've had friends purchase less expensive seats only to take them back and get this one instead. They were not as sturdy and much bulkier. If you can, don't buy one, buy TWO. We keep one in the car and one attached to our kitchen island and he loves it.

You may be tempted to slide a chair or something beneath the seat "just in case" it falls, but don't do that. They will use the chair as leverage to try and stand up. You can't tell in the picture, but this seat also has shoulder straps that buckle your child in for safety. They are very easy to adjust and secure.

All in all a very sleek, slender, secure dining seat for any small child.

4.0 out of 5 stars baby at the table!, October 17, 2007
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great little chair. It fits in my diaper bag (when collapsed the chair is about the size of an average laptop)so it is easy to take along to restaurants that may not have high chairs (or may have high chairs that you don't want your child in.) My little girl is almost 5 months, and she really likes sitting at the table with us at meals. It would be nice if the metal bars had a bit more padding (this is why I give it a 4 instead of a 5). Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous chair for everyday or travel, April 2, 2007

I originally purchased this chair to bring along to restaurants or vacations but it was so sturdy, so small, and so convenient, I ended up ditching our high chair and using it every day at home. Our daughter liked being at the table with us and it was much easier to clean than a high chair.

Now that she is older and no longer needs a high chair or booster chair we still use it frequently when friends with younger children come over to visit. I often buy this chair as a baby gift and everyone loves it. I also highly recommend this for grandparents or relatives who want to keep something on hand for younger guests. This takes up the space of a folded t-shirt in your closet!

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost 5 Stars!, December 1, 2007
This review is from: Phil & Ted's Me Too! Hook on High Chair Color: Red (Baby Product)
Although this chair is light, and easy to use, the reason i only gave it four stars is that it cannot be used on glass tables. i bought this chair before leaving for a visit to my parents' house, only to receive it and read the instructions which state not to use it on glass tables- and my parents have 2 glass tables. great. but, we've shlepped it around everywhere else, and prefer using it over the chairs provided by restaurants. it really is a great product- well made, and cleans up very easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best high chair we've ever owned (and we would know)..., January 1, 2008
This review is from: Phil & Ted's Me Too! Hook on High Chair Color: Red (Baby Product)
We have 7 (soon to be 8) children and the Me Too chair is the best mealtime chair we've ever owned. We began with a Peg Perego high chair that took us through our first few children, but it was another piece of furniture entirely. Large high chairs are always in the way, and we have a large kitchen so it isn't merely a square footage issue. They are also a pain to clean because of the many nooks and crannies, in addition to the fact that one can't simply drop the high chair into a sink full of soapy water.

All high chairs or boosters are work to keep clean, so if you are expecting to be able to wipe one down and walk away, you need to change your expectations. We have had no problem washing the Me Too in the sink with soapy hot water and then allowing it to dry overnight, but we live in a dry climate.

And while the Me Too might not fit every table, it fits the most-used table here- the one in our kitchen. We can use high chairs provided by restaurants when not at home.

I'm off to purchase another for the next little guy arriving in our home soon.
