1.0 out of 5 stars But don't judge by me December 10, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
It may or may not be a good story or well written. After two detailed descriptions of women's breasts within (I think) the first three pages (two different women) I tried to remember when and why I got this book. Still can't figure it out but I did not feel like wading through the anatomy references to get to the story. I could tell it was not one I would enjoy.

This review is for the author. You're badly in need of an editor. Editors are not spell-checkers. They can tell you when you have strayed into the land of the ridiculous. Have you ever talked to a Navy Seal? They are MUCH smarter than you evidently think, and their brains get scrambled just as badly as anyone else's when they are kicked in the head. A real Navy Seal would have solved this case way before he got kicked in the head for the third time. Also, a proof-reader will help you with internal inconsistencies. First it's a kidney, then it's her appendix? Were you in a hurry to finish or do you just not care?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read!!! May 15, 2012
By Bryan
Format:Paperback
If you've lost it, Detective Lance Carter is your man to find it. If you want to know if your spouse is cheating, he'll find out for you. Lance Carter is good at what he does. When an unknown female calls but says very little before hanging up, Carter knows she's in trouble. What he doesn't know is that his caller is about to get him involved deeper in trouble with the Asian Mafia than he ever could have dreamed. Meanwhile, a client has asked him to find her child and after looking into a lead, he discovers that his client and his unknown female caller may have some connections to each other.

Together with his partner Linc Diesel, Detective Lance Carter is going to have to travel to the darker side of Philadelphia if he is going to have a chance at helping his client and the unknown caller. What he finds in the process may be a possible link to his own past, but it could be more than he wants to know. If Carter's not careful it could spell the end of not only Carter Investigations, but also Carter himself.

Philadelphia Story is not my usual genre of reading material, and I was admittedly skeptical of what I was about to read. My fears were put to rest as soon as I had finished the first few pages. Philadelphia Story was almost like 1946's The Big Sleep was meeting up with a more modern version of Detective Phillip Marlow. It had a flow that, while at times was predictable, was incredibly smooth for the most part. Sarte does a great job of allowing his readers a glimpse of Philadelphia and its rich history, as well as spinning a tale that is fast paced and right in your face until the end. About the only con of the story is that the main character has a bit of a perverted streak in him, which might not settle well with some readers, but not so overpowering as to take away from the story.

I highly recommend Philadelphia Story to those interested in a good detective story, as well as those looking for something to stimulate the imagination. Whether you are new to the genre, or seasoned all the way back to the 1940's and 50's old school detective stories, this one is a must read.
