This review is from: Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet Plays Pilss, von Zemlinsky, Foerster, Reinecke (Audio CD)
This is some very fine music for wind quintet. Though I am barely or not at all familiar with the composers featured on this disc, much of the music has a central European feel. I especially like the Foerster quintet because it has that "Czech" or "Bohemian" feel to it. There is something about wind instruments that just bring to mind pastoral images; trees, birds, forests, jumping frogs. Even if you have never or barely heard of the featured composers on this CD, I would still recommend it. The music is not bad, and is actually quite good.
