Das MAK – österreichisches Museum für angewandte Kunst, präsentiert zum 90. Geburtstag von Philip Johnson, dem amerikanischen Doyen der Architektur, die Skulptur "Wiener Trio". Diese hat Johnson eigens für die Ausstellung im MAK entworfen. "Turning Point" – der Wendepunkt – bezeichnet für den Architekten nicht nur die innere Veränderung und Hinwendung zu einem neuen Jahrhundert, sondern es bedeutet die Auseinandersetzung mit neuen Ansätzen und damit einem völlig neuen Vokabular der Architektur. "Wiener Trio” zeigt den Architekten mit einer ungeheuren Tatkraft und Kreativität. Anspielungen an Bogengänge, Volumen und auch Leere versammeln skulpturale Elemente in der Architektur, die den Eindruck der Raumeinschließung vermitteln. Die vorliegende Publikation über sein jüngstes Werk beinhaltet Texte von folgenden Autoren: Peter Blake, Harvey Buchanan, Frank O. Gehry, Brendan Gill, Richard Koshalek, Greg Lynn, Peter Noever, Wolf D. Prix und David Salle.

Philip Johnson was an active propagandist for the Nazi government and active fascist sympathizer, who had tried to implement fascism in USA for at least 8 years between 1932 and 1940.
