Amazon.com Review

Including a comprehensive cookware collection and an inclusive set of kitchen tools, this 16-piece ensemble from Philippe Richard establishes a strong foundation for any first time kitchen owner. Attractive and durable, the pans feature 18/10 stainless-steel construction with securely riveted handles and snuggly fitting, tempered glass lids. Thanks to an encapsulated aluminum disk in the base of each vessel, heat distributes quickly and evenly allowing for the prevention of unwanted hot spots. Generously sized loop handles and finger indentations along their straighter counterparts provide comfort during use. On the downside, the steel handle material retains heat and as a result requires the use of a cloth or potholder. While the glass lid construction affords the convenience of food monitoring, its disadvantage lies in the limited ability to withstand oven temperatures above 270 degrees F.

The cookware set consists of an 8-inch omelet pan and 10-inch skillet for frying and sautéing; a 2-quart saucepan and 3-quart casserole pan with lids for cooking pasta and steaming vegetables; and a generous 6-quart Dutch oven with lid for making hearty stews or cooking a cluster of full-cob corn. Each item in the utensil collection features durable nylon construction for safe use with nonstick pans and stain resistance. Conveniently stored in an included ceramic holder, the kitchen tools include: 11-3/4-inch ladle, 12-inch pasta server, 12-inch serving spoon, 12-inch slotted spoon, 12-1/2-inch spatula, 13-inch slotted spatula, and a 13-inch perforated skimmer. All products in the 16-piece ensemble come with a limited lifetime warranty. -- Amy Arnold

Product Description

16PC. Stainless Steel 18/10 Cookware Set-Professional-Philippe Richard Use and Care Instructions are as follows: Before First Use: Wash pan in warm soapy water. 'Season' Pan with a small amount of cooking oil. Wipe off any excess oil. Oven Cooking: Non-Stick Cookware is oven safe to 350F. Do not use under the boiler as it may cause damage to the non-stick coating. Always use oven mittsor pot holders when removing pots or pans from the oven as the handles will also get hot. Glass lid is not recommended for oven use above 270F. Cooking Utensils: Tabletops Unlimited Inc. uses non-stick coating on the interiors of the cookware. Though this is a premium coating and is very durable, we do not recommend using metal utensils to mix, stir or release food from our pans. Wood, plastic or nylon tools are preferred. Do not use under the broiler as it may cause damage to the non-stick coating. Cleaning: Clean-up is as simple as using a sponge and warm soapy water, or cookware is also dishwasher safe. Do not use abrasive cleaning pads.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Looks Great... but These Pans are JUNK., October 2, 2005
This review is from: Philippe Richard 16 Piece Stainless Steel 18/10 Cookware Set-Professional (Kitchen)
I felt that it was my duty to warn others to beware of this cookware set.

These pans looked so nice, and I thought they were a great deal. I've been cooking with non-stick and decided that I wanted to go back to cooking with stainless steel. I looked around, and felt that for the price, this set seemed great.

I had used the frying pan only a few times, and the third time I used it, I noticed that there was a bubble forming on the bottom of the pan! I have never seen such a thing happen to a stainless steel pan. Sure, they can get ruined inside from burning things. But what in the world caused the bottom of the pan to bubble like that?!

I have had this set for less than a week, so I'm taking it back to the store I bought it from. I'm so grateful that I didn't buy this set online.

2.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for!, September 15, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Philippe Richard 16 Piece Stainless Steel 18/10 Cookware Set-Professional (Kitchen)
I bought this cookware set a few months ago and despite diligence in hand washing and drying and careful cooking by monitoring temperatures and utensils (I only used the ones that came with the pots) my pans look absolutely horrible. I don't even want to bother getting another set via the warranty (which is not a lifetime one like advertised but rather 15 years). It's only been a few months and I'm looking for new pots. Good side is that they are pretty but beware. They'll not be pretty for long.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rusted, January 5, 2007
This review is from: Philippe Richard 16 Piece Stainless Steel 18/10 Cookware Set-Professional (Kitchen)
These pans aren't exactly dish-washer safe - they rusted after one use. They were purchased from a department store, though, not Amazon.
