This review is from: Philippines Travel Pack (Globetrotter Travel Packs) (Paperback)
New edition, good for its size, and comes with great map. Can easily be carried with you. If you want more details, go with the Jens Peters book. I rejected that one, because it has 816 pages! Can NOT be easily carried, and who has time to read all that? There's a shortage of proper P.I. guide books. The latest Lonely Planet book supposedly contains outdated info, and most of the other books are too old to be of value at this juncture.

Awesome map-information,

Great book, several key places missing but information very useful. Spent 2 weeks in Philippines and referenced it often. The map was great.

a bit disappointing,
This review is from: Philippines Travel Pack (Globetrotter Travel Packs) (Paperback)
I am an experienced SE Asia traveler and took a chance on this to find its 100 some odd pages to be nothing more than a picturesque but thin overview with minimal information on lodgings or transportation choices. Maps are the strong point for this package, but for serious info. on travel logistics stick with the updated Lonely Planet (still inadequate) or the hefty tome by Jens Peters. And always be prepared for price fluctuations above or beyond what is quoted in any book. Unfortunately, the Philippines is one place that has no one single comprehensive and utterly reliable travel guide.
I gave this an extra star just for being succinct which can sometimes be helpful when choices are overwhelming. Happy travels.
