Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Philips 19PR11C uses a 19-inch black matrix picture tube with Video Dynamic Noise Reduction (DNR) for an exceptionally smooth picture texture and clear, bright overall picture quality. Black Stretch circuitry enhances the darker portions of the picture for added realism and contrast, and three-position color-temperature control feature lets you customize your personal flesh-tone preference with cool, normal, and warm settings.

For fast, easy connection of external video sources such as camcorders, VCRs, or video games, the 19PR11C includes front AV input jacks, as well as a front earphone jack for private listening. An onscreen clock with sleep timer and alarm turns the set off at a preset time of up to 240 minutes, or turns the set on to a preset channel at a preset time of up to 24 hours from the time it was set.

Also included is Philips's Quadrasurf remote control, which lets you manipulate all features of the set with ease, including the onscreen clock and sleep timer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific picture!, June 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Philips 19PR11C 19" TV (Electronics)
This television has a great picture. There is a special setting that allows you to easily adjust the picture settings depending on the type of program you are watching. It also has a clock that you can set as an alarm, a great feature if you use this TV in the bedroom. If they made it in white, I would get one for my kitchen too!

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY if you plan to use for more than 5 years!, May 21, 2007

This review is from: Philips 19PR11C 19" TV (Electronics)
You want a TV that'll work for a year or two? Then this is the TV for you! Great, adjustable picture, great sound, good price.

But, be warned, you might just have a different opinion of this set 5 years later. See, when I first bought it, it worked perfectly. But now it has become a huge frustration. For seemingly no reason, the TV will automatically shutoff all of the time. So, what do you do? You turn it back on. 8-10 seconds later, it shuts off again. You turn it on, it shuts off, on, off, on, off!!! Finally you get so frustrated that you leave the thing off! It's not an overheating thing, as it can do this a few seconds after initially turning the set on. I've even gone as far as to set up a fan next to the thing, but it doesn't help the problem. It's not a connection problem as the Philips website suggests. I've checked all of the connections. It seems to do it more when there is brighter colors on the screen, but adjusting the picture to make it very dim doesn't help the problem.

Search the internet, you'll find others with the same exact problem with this set. The best I can figure out is that it has something to do with some feature in the TV that automatically shuts it off when it starts to emit dangerous levels of X-rays. Yes, you read that right. Not only is this a nonfunctioning and annoying TV, but it may also be dangerous!!

Really, they don't make em like they used to, or at least Philips doesn't. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a TV to work for more than 5 years. Now, I can either go through the trouble of fixing this thing, or spend about as much money on a new set. And I can guarantee you this: I won't be buying another Philips TV!!
