This high-tech, feature-packed 27-inch set from Philips turns a living room or studio apartment into a home theater, whether you're video source is a VCR, cable box, satellite receiver, or DVD player. The set's Real Flat invar picture tube minimizes unwanted reflections and provides a wide viewing angle so everyone in the family can enjoy its vivid, high-contrast images. Its special alloy invar shadow mask delivers a sharper picture with purer colors and brighter whites than do standard television tubes.
Double-window, two-tuner PIP lets you watch two programs side-by-side, even without a VCR. Two separate tuners (each with its own RF antenna input on the set's back panel) select two shows and display both in windows of equal proportion, or you can watch one show in one window while scanning channels in the other. The set also offers GUIDE Plus+ GOLD programming, a convenient, easy-to-use, and subscription-free interactive service that provides instant summaries of favorite shows at the touch of a button. It sorts information by category (sports, movies, etc.) and offers both point-and-tune and point-and-record functions (when used in conjunction with a VCR). Other video technologies include Improved Image Definition (IID), video DNR (dynamic noise reduction), AutoPicture, black stretch, blue stretch, green stretch, and three-position color-temperature control.
The set features stereo five-inch speakers and a dedicated, 10-watt subwoofer. AutoSound Plus technology offers four factory settings (movies, music, voice, or personal), each with a variety of combinations of ultra bass, treble, and automatic volume leveling to suit any taste. A pair of clip-type speaker terminals on the back panel let you hook up surround speakers for more enveloping sound, and Incredible Surround employs psychoacoustic methods to widen the perceived stereo spatial image for full-impact home entertainment--especially helpful if you're not using surround speakers.
The included M-Link system remote "learns" and controls up to five input devices (such as DVD, VCR, cable box, satellite system, etc.) and one output device (such as an audio amplifier or receiver). An easy-to-use onscreen display and macros launch your full system with the press of one button.

in addition to my previous review!! one word of warning. if you sit close to tv and have volume at low levels there is an audible buzz i assume comes from the amplifier. i am about 8 feet away and it is no problem because volume is up enough to not notice. but if your set up or viewing preference is close to tv and low volume levels it could be annoying!! still rating this unit high because i have no issue here but you may.
