First of all let me say I did not purchase this from Amazon as this was not available at that time, purchased it from a different web site, I wish I could have waited a little longer as I paid 30 more than the price listed here.

Design:

Great design very slim profile. Would look like a poster if you mount it up a wall. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the panel is actually IPS!
Remote is nice and small, designed for practicality, but I use only my universal remote (Philips)

Performance:
I have owned Samsung & Sony LED's before this, trust me the picture quality on this way better looking than any TV I've ever seen!! It doesn’t just add too much contrast & color like Samsung does, the emphasis here is on natural picture.
I’m familiar with Philip’s proprietary “PIXEL PLUS HD” technology the picture here appears absolutely razor sharp, it’s as if you are looking out of a window! Even normal SD channels look good, if not hi-def. It is so clear that you can even see the tiniest moles and hairs on the actor’s faces!!(Especially if you’re watching a sensual movie)
Viewing angle is excellent, no picture deterioration from any angle.
A very important thing here is that I used to have lots of discomfort while watching my previous LED over long periods, but with this one it is so comfortable in spite of watching movies the whole night!!

Sound:
Sound is GREAT for a unit this small. However I’ve hooked up my sound bar.

Connectivity:
HDMI is hooked up to my Panasonic BD player & Set top box (HD 1080p)
Component to Philips DVD player (HD 1080i)
Co-axial to Philips sound bar.(HD sound)
Overall this is a great TV & definitely a bang for the buck and my entertainment hub for years to come!

UPDATE: In December 2014, I replaced the Philips 32PFL5708 with a Seiki SE39UY04-1 (39" 4K, which was approximately the same street price as the Philips HD 32"). I no longer use the Philips as a computer display (indeed, I've went from a multi-monitor setup to a single display since switching to the Seiki).

So the following review is, in that sense, no longer applicable.

The original review follows ....

First, like the other reviewer, I didn't buy this through Amazon or online (it wasn't available).

I picked it up at a big box warehouse (the "C" one), for the munificent sum of 2.5 ben-franklins (the proverbial "good deal"). Actually, when I first spotted it, I spent a half hour at the store mulling it over, decided it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, went home and thought about it even more (and did some research), and went back the next day and bought it to try it out (there's a 90 day no questions asked return policy at aforementioned store). So it wasn't an impulse buy per se (almost, but not quite, lol).

Just so you don't misunderstand my later comments: the Philips playing HD videos streamed from my PC from both Amazon prime and Youtube, etc., right out of the box - without any adjustments - was quite nice.

The Good
========
1) Excellent picture with 1080 source, fair with 720, and, of course, lousy pic with 480 source.

2) Incredibly inexpensive. I paid $159 for mine.

3) Has all the connectors I'd want: PC input (VGA/D-sub), USB, 2 HDMIs, component, composite, headphone analog audio output (I use this for my external speakers), digital audio output, etc.

4) The closed captions are easy to read. It has an option to only display CCs when you mute it, which is quite useful.

5) No dead pixels !

The Bad
=======
A) The remote is a little cheap, the buttons more smush than click, it has sharp edges I'll probably file down, and I can't figure out what all the buttons do, like the "Options" button and the 4 buttons with just colors on them. Perhaps it's like a universal remote you can program to control various input devices, but I didn't see anything about that in the manual.

B) Using the over-the-air broadcasts via the antenna jack, it has some shortcomings:

B-1) When you type in a channel, you have to type the entire thing. If I type in 2, it looks for analog channel 2, which of course doesn't exist any more, doesn't find it, and gives me static. I have to type in 2.1 to get digital channel 2. Even worse, if old analog channel 2 is now used to carry digital channel 7, typing 2 will take you to channel 7.1. That's got to be confusing.

B-2) The Info button provides very limited info, such as the current program name, channel, network, format/resolution, and rating. Missing are the program description, current time, start and end times of the current program, and the upcoming programs. All this info is broadcast with digital TV channels, but this TV doesn't display it.
