Digital CrystalClear processing offers luminance and color enhancements, including a comb filter, to produce a crisp and natural picture from any source. Auto Picture and Auto Sound modes offer timesaving presets to fit several typical scenarios.
The 37FD9954 can display full 1080i high-definition resolution. Its screen offers high contrast (1,000:1) and high brightness (1,000 cd/m2) as well as an anti-reflective coating to avoid glare. The unit does not contain a cooling fan, so there is no fan noise. The 160-degree viewing angle assures everyone in your audience of having a good seat.
The two-tuner, double-window picture-in-picture (PIP) lets you freeze-frame the image (of the main or PIP window) or review an instant replay of the last few seconds. In addition, it lets you position a single window freely or gives you several options for two windows. You can also listen to the PIP sound through the headphones while others listen to the main window's sound through the speakers. You can also zoom in using a cursor-moveable zoom function, while a AutoScreen Fit will fit programs of any aspect ratio to the size of the screen without apparent distortion.
The TV's integrated sound system comes with two built-in 13-watt speakers, which can serve as either stereo speakers or as the center channel when part of a surround-sound system. It offers digital signal processing, spatial-pseudo stereo, separate headphone volume, and five preset sound modes (movie, speech, music, personal, and multimedia) in addition to manual control. The system's onscreen graphical menus are available in English, Spanish, and French, and it can display closed captioning for the hearing impaired or silent viewing.
The 37FD9954 includes two HD component inputs for connection to a DVD player, as well as S-Video and composite-video connectors, a DVI-d (digital video interface) connector, and an RGB-VGA port for use as a computer monitor. A wall-mount bracket is included.
What's in the Box
Plasma TV, wall-mount bracket, remote control with second handset, batteries, operating instructions, warranty information, and two 2-meter VGA cables.

This review is from: Philips 37FD9954 37-Inch HD-Ready Flat Panel Plasma TV Monitor (Electronics)
I had owned this set for just under eighteen months when it quit working. It was not under warranty but I called Philips Customer Service to locate an authorized repair center; they directed me to a local repair shop. The tech tested the set and called me to say that the part needed was not available and asked me to call Philips to see if I could get any action from them that he couldn't get.A call to Philips got me the same response, the part is not available and will never be available. I asked to speak to someone else and was transferred to a lady at customer service who also informed me that the part was not available and she was very sorry but there was nothing anyone could do because the set is out of warranty. When I asked to speak to someone else she said there was no one else. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she claimed she had no supervisor. I believe that her job is solely to deflect these calls. I now have a $4000 door stop and Philips got their money so they don't care. If you search the web you will find a lot of people with similar problems with Philips products. You can get larger, higher quality plasmas for less money. Stay away from this one.
