Overall, I'm happy with the color and light output.

My personal observations from use: the bulb is instant-on, dims perfectly when I slide the dimmer switch, and makes no noise whatsoever.

The light is quite warm, with similar yellowish cast of the incandescent bulb.

Very distinctive modern design, looks cool. Nice light color, not very bright, similar to an incandescent 40W as advertised. Price is a bit staggering for a light bulb but if the longevity is as promised it might be worth it. I'll update in 22.8 years.

The Phillips LED light bulb is amazing. The light it gives out is almost white. No flickering on any kind. Approx power usage on the box says 3 hours a day for a full year will be less than $1. I would pick up a 10 pieces if it were more affordable, A price drop to $10 would be nice.

After spending some time looking at the new LED bulbs, I bought one of these (the last one in stock) to replace a 40 W bulb in the bedside table lamp in our bedroom. The light is quite warm, with similar yellowish cast of the incandescent bulb. The bulb is heavy with a solid build. The light projected from the new bulb has an even pattern, similar to the standard bulb. This is a nice feature as many of the other new LED bulbs have a much narrower dispersion pattern. In my view, a wide dispersion is much better for the typical table lamp.

Altogether, it's a one for one replacement for the standard bulb, albeit at a much higher price. On the other hand, it will pay for itself in 6 months as it burns about 20% of the electric power of the bulb it is replacing. The bedside lights are on a lot - more or less all day so we don't come home to a dark home. The estimated power used is about $0.96 per year versus over $80 for the standard bulb. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I decided to order LEDs for the first time having done some research online, and this was one of the bulbs I purchased. For comparison's sake, I ordered A19 bulbs from 3 different manufacturers:

LED Dimmable Light Bulb, 830 Lumen Omni-Directional, A19, Warm White, Lifetime Guarantee by G7 Power
+ The color of the light was ok, not perfect. It's warm but definitely on the whiter side (3000K).
- Emitted a buzzing noise wherever I installed it.
- I think it may have blown out the socket on one of my lamps. Good thing I didn't like that lamp.
- The bulb was heavyweight and large. It actually dragged down an arm of a multi-arm lamp I own.
- This and the LED Dimmable Light Bulb, 900 Lumen, BR30 or PAR30 Replacement, Warm White, Lifetime Guarantee by G7 Power have a 3-second cooldown after you turn off the light. Seems to be a theme with this company's products.
Overall:
Disappointed in this product. I wanted to like this company since it felt like a local, grassroots company trying to get a footing in the market, but unfortunately their products seem inferior to Philips.

Philips 417048 Dimmable AmbientLED 8-Watt A19 Light Bulb
+ The color of the light was a perfect warm white that matched my existing incandescents and CFLs perfectly (2700K).
+ The bulb itself was lightweight and compact in size.
+ It turned on and off instantly with no warm up or cool down.

It's tough to provide a review on something that's supposed to last 23 years since that's presumably one of the reasons you're buying these bulbs. Even tougher to give them a top rating when 1 of the 30 or so I've bought has failed within the first year, but I didn't really believe the whole 23 year claim anyway. I just figured when I installed all these that it would be the last time I'd change these bulbs in my house.

Overall, I'm happy with the color and light output. The bulbs also come on instantly vs. the CFL's I was using which had to "warm" to full glow. I haven't used these bulbs in a dimmable application so I can't comment on that.

Size-wize, they are a little bit larger than a CFL of a similar "wattage" or lumens output, so if you've got a confined space where you're using one of the small CFL's, this bulb may be too big to fit.

I like the 8-Watt version of this bulb for 40-60 watt applications and the 12.5-Watt version for 75-100 Watt applications. You really see the difference in power consumption when you're hooked up to a generator after having lost power--you can run 5-7 lights with these bulbs for every 1 regular incandescent bulb of similar "wattage" or output.

The ribs around the side of the bulb does limit output a little bit and limits the effectiveness of these bulbs in certain applications. For downlight applications, I prefer the G7 Power A21 900 lumen bulb which replaced all of the CFL floods I had in the hi-hats in my kitchen.
