It dims but depending on the dimmer, you may hear a high-frequency buzz.
Color temperature is just slightly cooler than an incandescent bulb but much warmer than the stark bluish "daylight" or "bright white" LED bulbs.

This bulb is always cool to the touch and the light looks like it comes from an incandescent bulb.

The most unusual feature of this Philips 433227 10.5-watt Slim Style LED Bulb is that it does not resemble a traditional A19 light bulb. Instead, this LED 'bulb' is flat and shaped more like a lollipop. The body is made of thick, translucent plastic that feels quite rugged. I have not done any 'drop test' with this bulb, but I'm sure it can survive a short fall without cracking.

Another important feature is that: this Slim Style bulb is significantly lighter than other 60W-equivalent LED bulbs I have tested (although it is still heavier than an incandescent bulb). That means I can use it in any hanging light fixture or goose-neck lamp, for examples, without worrying too much about its added weight.

The actual light source of this product consists of 26 tiny LEDs, placed around the fringe of the lollipop. At first I was skeptical that this arrangement can give out uniform illumination all round. But in actual application (when placed behind lamp shade, for example) the light it produces is close to omni-directional. Its color temperature is 2700K, same as that of most incandescent bulbs. Basically if you don't look at this LED bulb, you can't tell the difference between its light and that of a 60W A19 incandescent bulb.

The power consumption is 11W according to my P4460 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor. Its power factor is PF=0.88 which is not bad, but below that of other Philips LED bulbs I have tested (for example, the

I am an electrical engineer and I love LED technologies. I'm always excited to see the latest and greatest from all the different companies. I feel that this bulb is fairly inferior to it's competitors. I love the way this bulb looks, and that it is super lightweight, and gives a very incandescent true 2700K color temperature. Everything about this bulb is amazing except for the buzzing sound it makes while it is on. I'm not sure how this bulb make it through testing and on to production because the noise it makes is terrible. Some people say I just have super sensitive ears... but hey other reviewers have made this same point so it is not just me or that I got one bad bulb. There must be a FET or something that Phillips has used to lower the voltage for the LEDs that is a super cheap part or something because this bulb vibrates a lot... causing that humm noise that it so awfully makes! Okay so that being said... sometimes the humm is less noticeable. Different light fixtures will dampen this noisy bulb better than others. I hear the buzzing less when the bulb is in a long gooseneck type lamp. I hear the buzzing the most in a plain ceramic bulb base fixture. Some table lamps dampen the vibration buzzing more than others. All in all this bulb may work for some people... those who don't mind buzzing bulbs, or those who place them in fixtures that dampen the buzzing. They also are not rated for enclosed fixtures (They would get too hot and cause damage to the bulb or even fire). Very cool design, very terrible testing and engineering. I say stick with Cree bulbs because they are better engineered and don't make noise and can be placed in an enclosed fixture... even though that little dark spot on the tip is annoying.

So far so good. I expect I'll update this review in the future if I have any problems with the bulb, and I did write the purchase date on it to track its longevity.

Anyway, as you can see from the video this bulb does indeed dim, though massively less well than an incandescent (this is to be expected to some degree--CFLs and LEDs are often challenged with dimming).

Taking a picture of a bulb is tricky, even with a good camera (particularly if you don't really know how to use it well, like me!). When the bulb is fully dimmed the distinct LED bulbs that are placed in the periphery of the bulb are noticeable. On full strength they aren't.

As to be expected with the bulb's strange shape there will be a difference in light depending on angle. Although this is surely measurable I have to expect in day to day use it won't be of any relevance and the effect is surely not profound.

In the dimmable fixture shown here there was a dull buzzing sound from the bulb at both low and high strength. Contrast to the incandescent bulbs: they generate no sound at full strength and a very slight (less than this LED) sound at low strength. Moving the bulb to a non-dimmable fixture, it generated no sound I could detect, in positive contrast to a CFL it was replacing, which in the same fixture generated a slight sound. Again to be frank in all cases these noises are not going to be noticeable unless specifically listening for them or very close to the bulb.

Dimming aside, this bulb warms up instantly, more or less, generates a soft yellow light, and does not get hotter than "pretty warm"--you could wrap your hand around it for a long period without any burning (if you wanted to!).
