Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Director had a vision. Share it with Philips' 60PP9352 Epic 60" Projection HDTV-Ready TV. This 60" 16:9 high definition display television is capable of producing a full 1080i signal via a digital set top box. This set offers display format conversion to ensure that you are seeing the image the way that you want to, regardless of source. It comes with Active Control, Eye Fidelity, APAC, a 3-line digital comb filter, two-tuner picture-in-picture, and a protective screen, all in a slim upscale stylish design.

Features:

  • Multiple digital convergence: Our expansive 35-point covergence brings with it the accuracy of digital technology for flawless covergence of red, green, and blue guns and a suburb picture with no colored halos.
  • Automatic Phosphor Aging Compensation (APAC): If a video image remains stationary, it can eventually leave a permanent after-image on the screen (this is call image-rentention). Periodically, APAC shifts your television screen in very small increments, but increments large enough to blur image rentention. This helps to provide protection from the dreaded screen burn. Think of it as a screen saver for your TV.
  • Active Control: Continuous picture analysis and control of Automatic Digital Noise Reduction and Auto Sharpness. Automatically offers the best picture settings. The demo menu shows real-time adjustments of two parameters based on picture content.
  • Eye Fidelity: Gives the consumer a choice between two scanning techniques, progressive and interlaced
  • Auto Lock: Protect young children from objectionable programming with V-chip technology
  • Virtual Dolby Surround--20 watt RMS
  • Protective screen filter
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9, 4:3 enhanced
  • Picture in Picture
  • Audio Type: Virtual Surround
  • Comb Filter: 3DYC
  • Headphone Jack
  • Closed Caption on Mute
  • Progressive Scan
  • A/V Inputs Composite: 3 (1 side/2 rear)
  • A/V Outputs Composite: 1 (rear)
  • S-Video Inputs: 3 (1 side/2 rear)
  • Number of RF Jacks: 1
  • Number of Component Inputs: 2
  • Parental Control
  • Sleep Timer
  • Universal Remote Control
  • Energy Star Compliant

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice TV, but not the best, August 1, 2003

This review is from: Philips 60PP9352 Epic 60-Inch Projection HDTV-Ready TV (Electronics)
TV has no inputs for a center channel so one must be set on top. My first unit had a black spot on the screen, I couldn't find anyone to do warranty work for Philips (neither could they). After 7 weeks of calls, emails, waiting on parts, and finally a complaint against Philips to the Better Business Bureau and a credit card dispute. The store I purchased the unit from agreed to exchange it for me.

Make sure there are no flaws in yours before you get it home, it is a pain to get someone to do anything for you after that. Philips made no efforts whatsoever to get this matter resolved, I had to call each repair center myself.

The Ultravision (Hitachi) seemed to have a better picture.
