3.0 out of 5 stars On The Right Track
The weekend sleeper is great! Istead of radio station presets, it has an old fashioned knob-which is a drag. It has enough other buttons though. There are 13 buttons in a half moon shape that are silver and not lit up. It makes it very difficult to hit the right button from your bed, especially when it is dark. There are 13 buttons in a half moon shape that are silver and not lit up. It makes it very difficult to hit the right button from your bed, especially when it is dark. The sound is pretty good but it needs to be directed up and out instead of towards the table it sits on. It is on the right track but needs more work.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great alarm clock!, September 25, 2000

This alarm clock is the best out there. I have had a Sony Dream Machine for the longest time and I finally coudnt take it anymore, I needed a cd player!!! I am so amazed with the sound, it is just awesome! The alarm is loud enough to wake you, but not annoying. I'm telling you, if you do not buy this alarm clock, you will be sorry!

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it!, August 13, 2001

Very easy to set alarm and time. The speakers sound very good (even at low volume). I like that I have the choice of several alarm sounds. You also have the choice to wake to radio or CD. The weekend sleeper function is fantastic as you don't have to worry about turning the alarm clock off on Friday night. The one knock is that it is very hard to view the the LCD display (the time)if you are looking at it from underneath the the radio-clock. (i.e. the radio clock is on a dresser that is above your head and next to your bed).

5.0 out of 5 stars I love mine!, November 23, 2001

This product took a few extra minutes figuring out all the buttons but it was worth it. I love the weekend sleeper that prohibits the alarm from going off on weekends (or any other regular days you choose). I also like that once the alarms are set (2 alarms)you don't have to reset the alarms everyday unless you choose to change the time for the alarm. Of course, listening to a cd before sleep and waking up to whatever format I choose is great. I have the cd come on at a low sound level then gradually raise the volume to ease me out of my sleep. You are in control of all the settings, it's great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wife and Mom, March 6, 2001
By A Customer

I bought this for my husband to keep in our bedroom. We like the sleek look but it's much too large for a night-stand table. The sound is terrific, even our kids like to play their cd's on it, and we like the wake-up features. The buttons are much too small on top of the unit and since the writing is silver on silver tone buttons it makes it very difficult to see which button you need to press. Also, it would be great if it came with a remote. I would love to be able to turn this thing on and off without getting up from my bed. We like it very much but there is room for improvement.

I got the stereo today and I LOVE IT! The size is a bit big for a desktop radio, but the sound is crisp and clear. I like the fact that Philips added a bright backlight feature, which displays the time. If you're looking for a good cd/clock/radio, look no further!

2.0 out of 5 stars Button positions, November 23, 2003
This review is from: Philips AJ393517 Stereo CD Clock Radio (Electronics)
This would be a good alarm clock, escept for the button positions. For some reason the designer put the 24hour alarm reset button right next to the small snooze button. Everytime I tried to press snooze and get a few more minutes of sleep, I turned the alarm clock off.

In the end I bought a funky rooster alarm clock with a huge snooze button and a chinese accent. It's weird, but it works great. This one has been relegated to the garage.

It's a good radio; it's a good CD player; it's a good clock; it even looks cool, but it' not a good alarm clock.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great features, but not a good alarm!, January 5, 2004

(REAL NAME)

When I first bought this alarm clock, I loved it. I had returned six or more alarm clocks from the place I bought them because they were all lacking in fundamental features in one way or other. (Who wants to wake up to track 1 of a CD every time, really??!? Please Timex, hire some decent product developers!)

So when I got this home, I was thrilled. I love the weekend sleeper, the alarms which can be set completely independently (including two separate CD tracks), and the built-in self-recharging backup battery!

I even love the CD failover, when it works - if there's no CD in the drive, the alarm kicks in instead. The problem is, sometimes the CD will spin up and fail to play. I don't know why, it just sits and spins for 2 hours and doesn't play. But the alarm doesn't kick in either. So as an alarm clock, it's been a complete failure on several occasions. Like this morning. That's why I'm looking for a new alarm clock/cd player today.

Oh, and if you turn the volume more than 2/3 of the way up (it's a very loud player, very nice), the CD will skip. A lot. Why don't they take a cue from the portable CDs and build anti-skip in? I don't know.

I am very pleased with this clock radio except for the fact that if you are not looking at the display straigt on you can't really tell what time it is....all other aspects are very good however.
