Buy the BPA-free Avent bottle made from Polypropylene (PPE) instead,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, Single Pack (Baby Product)
Stop! Do not buy these "old" Avent BPA-free bottles. These are the honey-colored Polyether Sulphone (PES) bottles that, for whatever reason, leaks for many people. They come in yellow-colored boxes. Instead, buy the newer Avent BPA-free bottles made from the Polypropylene (PPE), which has a cloudy appearance. These newer PPE bottles don't leak. These newer PPE bottles come in blue-colored boxes.

One of the better bottles we've tried to date,

We're on a product testing binge with our new baby. Born Free, Adiri, Medela, Nuby, etc.
This little gem doesn't look very fancy, but it turns out to be the best of the bunch we've tried yet. The likes: - Flow rate is the slowest of all the new-born bottles we've tried. Closer to the breast, makes baby have to work for it. - Very simple bottle, unlike some other bottles, no finicky little pieces to mess around with. Just bottle, nipple and cap. - Large, clear, easy to read volume markings. Very easy to measure quantities (you'd be surprised how many others screw this up). The printing on it so far has stood up to washing/sanitizing. Complaints? Very minor. - BPA free plastic, but is there anything else I should worry about? I'd prefer glass... - Better nipple shape to mimic breast perhaps? - *** Additional note: Other people we know have this and they say it ALWAYS leaks. I almost concur with them. For some reason, a lot of times, this bottle LEAKS like crazy. I usually end up having to open it up slightly and re-tighten and then it's okay. Since I use it at home only, it is a minor annoyance given the other plus points. But when I go out, I don't usually take this because it will leak and you'll lose fluid. So be warned... Baby does not complain, so I think we'll probably be stocking up on more of these.

So I love AVENT typically and their products seem fine. However, the BPA free bottles, I bought four of these after buying 7 of the non-BPA ones. BPA free bottles LEAK AWAY! Very frustrating at anytime but especially if the milk drips on my baby's chest while she is trying to drink. So frustrating. I can't wait till my baby stops drinking from bottles because I not completely despise AVENT NON BPA bottles. The stores where I live won't even exchange or provide any relief. What a WASTE!

AVENT Bottles work well,

AVENT bottles are the best I've used so far...great shape for maneuvering, very easy to assemble for use and disassemble for cleaning. Wide body allows for adding formula with ease.
I highly suspect the people that are complaining about leaking aren't using the bottle correctly. You need to pull the nipple all the way up so it locks in place, then the collar screws onto the bottle with just a little turn. I have 5 AVENT bottles and they've all been leak-free so far. I'm getting this one so I can fill the microwave sterilizer all the way up with 6.

Gerber Does It Better,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, Single Pack (Baby Product)
I have an Avent pump and some of their original bottles, so I thought I'd give these a try when switching to all bpa-free bottles. The reason I am giving these such a low rating is they are a poor value at $8.50 each. I brought these home, but decided to keep looking. I found Gerber GentleFlow, which are also bpa-free, were much better in two BIG ways: (1) cost-value (at $2.20 each for the Gerber bottles, you save over $6 per bottle); and (2) performance (I can shake/mix powdered formula in the bottle without worrying about the leaking problem that the Avent bottles have). The first time I shook formula in the Avent bottles, it went all over the place. Each time I used the Avent bottles, I'd have to test the seal over the kitchen sink and readjust as necessary. I have not had the same problem with the Gerber bottles which are the same shape and size as the Avent bottles. You can use Avent nipples in them without any negative effects. The only noticable difference is the Gerber bottles are made from a cloudy colorless plastic rather than the golden crystal clear plastic that Avent uses. I do think the Avent plastic looks better, but was not worth the huge difference in price, not to mention the Avent's disappointing leaks. Unfortunately, I had a hard time finding GentleFlow bottles in stores, so I ended up ordering them directly from Gerber.

I have no problems with AVENT PES bottles, they do not leak. I just make sure to screw it correctly with some suction (you can hear it).The seller though, sent me a PP bottle, AMAZON was kind enough to refund this error by the seller.

This model doesn't come with the plastic ring to seal the connection between bottle and lid (the bottle is just taller to compensate) but is almost as secure. And that price is hard to beat! Ships really quickly, too. Recommended.

I love these bottles! My daughter has used them since she was born in feb. They were the only bottles she liked! But the only problem is that if you don't get the lid on right and tight enough they leak. But its noo big deal bc you just clean it off. But other than that its a great bottle!

I have a newborn (9 week old) and I was turned on to this bottle by a friend who got it for me for a shower gift. On a first attempt to give my babe a bottle, I used the FY Breastflow. The babe drank from it once, the second time, got really frustrated. When I gave my babe this bottle the AVENT amber colored silicone nipple bottle, she took from it and we haven't had a problem since (5 weeks) with her use and accustomization to the bottle from breast feeding. I have since purchased two more 9 oz AVENT bottles and they are great with the slow flow (1) nipple. The measurement on the side of the bottle is accurate and keeps me knowledgeable about how much my newborn is drinking.

We have a 3 years old and have been a fan of Avent since her birth. The bottles are great quality, never leak and only become yellow after prolonged use-in our case at least 6 months to a year!Highly recommended for all the young parents out there!
