This bottle warmer has done its job and is awesome compared to running it under hot water (took forever) but it has some weird features. It has 3 settings but for warming anything from 4 oz. bottles to baby food, you use setting 3---don't know why there are even other settings. Also, it needs a timer. They give you specific heating times but there is no timer on the unit. You need to set another timer in order to not overheat the milk.

While buying this product I was not sure it would work with bottles other Avents. We have used it with Medela and Dr Brown bottles and it works great.

This bottle warmer works great!! Since we don't have a microwave to heat water quickly, and I got tired of trying to heat bottles in warm water, a bottle warmer seemed to be the best solution.

I choose this brand because I use the Avent bottles and because a local store had it marked down to $24 (I didn't know the original price, and didn't realize what a deal I was getting). I was hoping it would work well, but it has surpassed all my expectations. It heats VERY quickly, even from refrigerator temperature. It's easy to use, clean, and store. Just be sure and follow the instructions. Once it begins to blink, remove the bottle and check the temp. I waited once and the bottle got quite warm. But, everytime I've removed it right away, the temp. has been perfect.

One note on the blinking light. The instructions say when the light blinks, the water has reached the proper temp. Now blinking to me means the light going on and off every few seconds. I guess this is not what blinking means to them. The light will go off, stay off for about 30-60 seconds, and then turn back on for 30-60 seconds. I didn't realize this was "blinking" until I waited through a few cycles and found the bottle very warm. So, I just put it where I can see it and remove the bottle when the light goes off the first time.

Also, as the other reviewer said, there is an on/off switch on the back of the until.

I highly recommend this product!!

The Avent Bottle Warmer uses water (not steam) to heat the milk. Tried both steam & water bottle warmers, water bottle warmer is much better.

Advantages:
1) A must if glass bottles are used. If steam is used on glass bottles, there's a greater potential for breakage due to the sudden temperature change.
2) Better control of the temperature of the milk because you can take the bottle in and out & test it on your wrist as needed. With bottle warmers that use steam, you cannot take it out mid-cycle, and often the milk overheats or is still somewhat cold.
3) After burping the baby, the milk sometimes gets cold - just put it back into the warm water for a few seconds to warm it back up.
4) Amount of time required to heat the bottle is just right. Start warming the bottle (on setting #3) before changing the baby's diaper, and by the time the new diaper & bib is on, the bottle is ready. Sometimes the bottle may actually overheat if you are not fast enough, if so, just place the bottle in cold water & it reaches the correct temperature within seconds. Therefore, keep a container of cold water next to the Avent bottle warmer to: (a) Refill the water in the bottle warmer, and (b) to cool overheated bottles.
5) Always have the bottle warmer's water level at the same level as the milk for the most efficient warming. Setting #3 is almost always used. Haven't figured out the function of setting #2 yet. But Setting #1 (the lowest heat) is great to slowly warm & maintain the correct temperature of the milk. For example, while the milk is warming on setting #1, give the baby a bath - by the time the bath is done, the milk is ready at the perfect temperature & is never over- or under- heated.

We use this warmer with the Dr Brown's glass bottles and have been very happy with it. Originally we had the steam-based version from Philips. It worked great as well, but the lid sometimes got in the way, you couldn't always tell how much water was at the bottom, so we dumped and refilled every time.

This warmer just sits there quietly, warms up quickly and you don't have to guess whether the warming is done or not because you can feel the temperature of the milk through the glass in the unsubmerged portion of the bottle. At first we thought it would take much longer than the steam-based version but haven't found that to be the case -- 2-3 minutes is enough.

The one thing we've found is that the bottles warm better the higher the water level, so we fill it to the brim each time. Also, it can be easy to forget this is on and we've found it will start to super-heat the water to a low boil. Left on overnight (we unplug each night) this could be a problem.

I bought this used on ebay with my 1st born, who is now going on 5. I breast fed him, so this was used primarily to warm or thaw out breastmilk. I also tried it a few times to warm up babyfood. It works great. MY main issue when I was using it before is I didnt know what to do, or how to actually use it.
Here is how it's used... Put the item you want warmed-thawed, etc inside the container. Add water at that point so it doesnt spill. Unlike some warmers, where you only add a teaspoon or two of water, this one requires more. You fill it almost all the way up with water. Plug it in, and it's good to go. The thing you need to remember to do is to TURN THE MACHINE OFF, but UNPLUGGING it after use!
Now, here's the kicker. I have had this outside since 2008 in our garage with the things I dont use anymore. We are expecting baby #2 due next month. I wanted to see if this still worked so I can clean it all up, etc. IT STILL WORKS! I tested it out on some frozen ice in a bottle like breastmilk would be, to thaw it out. And it works better than I remembered. It is an awesome product. I dont like the AVENT bottles much, because they do tend to leak. I have tried this with the playtext drop ins, and it works great. Along with also the Dr. Browns wide and standard bottles. Both fit great. It is a wide basket that you can actually remove, however I ussually just grab the bottle out by hand. In my opinion, and for what I spent on this, for something to last this long is amazing. Im not sure what the use for the numbers are 1, 2, 3 on the machine. However, I just put my item in, fill with about 3 to 4 onz of water, walk away for about 5 minutes, leave on #5 and it seems to be defrosted and warm enough than. The light actually turns off as well when it's ready.
