Leaky BPA FREE Avent Bottles ~ Consider other bottles,
By J. Lynn Reviews "Love My Kids" (Detroit, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, Dual Pack (Baby Product)
I am on my 3rd child with Avent bottles. I had no issues with the first two kids with leaking. When they came out with BPA free, I purchased all new bottles for the 3rd. It does not matter what we do, these leak. Sometimes it leaks from the hard plastic area that screws onto the bottle other times from the nipple itself. It does not matter what we do or how we do it and frankly who needs a full time project with screwing a nipple on in the middle of the night? These have leaked all over my purse and all over the baby. Just a complete mess. I do not remember the other 20 bottles (not BPA free) ever leaking.
I just called Phillips (Avent Manufacturer) to complain. The number is 800-54-AVENT. I was told to send 1/2 the bottles back so that they can test them and that is the only way I can get a refund. Unfortunately this will be another project to determine which out of my 10 bottles to send since I am not even sure which ones are causing the problem or if sometimes they are OK and other times not. My other issue is that these bottles are completely over-priced. I only got these because we liked the Avent bottles and never had issues before and wanted to stick with what I know. I just wanted to write a review for two reasons: 1) So that future consumers thing twice about buying these and 2) To give the phone number to contact the manufacturer for those of you that are already stuck with them. Hopefully the more people that complain, they will resolve the issue and maybe you can get money back.

Buy the BPA-free Avent bottles made from Polypropylene (PPE) instead,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, Dual Pack (Baby Product)
Stop! Do not buy these "old" Avent BPA-free bottles. These are the honey-colored Polyether Sulphone (PES) bottles that, for whatever reason, leaks for many people. They come in yellow-colored boxes. Instead, buy the newer Avent BPA-free bottles made from the Polypropylene (PPE), which has a cloudy appearance. These newer PPE bottles don't leak. These newer PPE bottles come in blue-colored boxes.

Great bottles, no leaks if you follow directions,
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, Dual Pack (Baby Product)
You can find these simple directions from Avent elsewhere on the internet, and if you follow them, you won't experience any more leaks than you do with other bottles. We had a set of Dr. Brown's but found these Avent bottles reduced fussiness and gas with our infant. We love them! Here are the directions:
1. Ensure that the nipple is wet 2. Place nipple in screw ring and pull through until a click is heard 3. Screw the screw ring firmly onto the bottle Note: the screwing action causes the anti-colic sealing skirt to spread out and create the seal against the inside of the bottle neck.

Finally! ...and no leaks.,

Finally Avent has a decent BPA free bottle. I have the Isis pump and all the other Avent bells and whistles, but had to switch to Dr. Brown's BPA free bottles. Dr. B's are good, but a PAIN to clean. I picked up 2 Avent BPA-free bottles at Target to give them a try after reading the mixed reviews. I am ordering more from Amazon - they work great, just like the regular polycarbonate bottles. I think the trick to fixing a leak issue is twofold: Make sure the nipple is "snapped" in and (most important) don't over-tighten the nipple and collar onto the bottle. Over-tightening WILL cause leaks. A decent "finger tight" turn will do. I only gave these 4 stars because of price. I wish they would have made polypropylene bottles (the translucent plastic) - they would have been cheaper. But, I guess having good, BPA-free bottles that work seemlessly with all the stuff I already have, are super-easy to clean, and are NOT made in China is worth the extra cost.

Finally...Avent has BPA Free Bottles!,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, Dual Pack (Baby Product)
I am a huge fan of Avent bottles. I used the original Avent bottles then switched to Born Free (which leaked) so I switch back to Avent when the BPA Free bottles became available. I love Avent bottles b/c they are easy to clean, have several nipple options, come in several sizes, and the formula warms up better b/c of the wide shape. So when I saw Avent now has BPA Free bottles it was a no brainier for me to stock up!

If you love leaks, then this is the bottle for you!,

I really tried to give AVENT bottles a chance, really. But after 7 weeks of leaks and stains on both baby, me and dad we threw in the towel. I did so much research to try and STOP the leaks, but with no luck. These bottles are great otherwise. AVENT really needs to get their act together, and redesign the caps. They are terrible. I've never gone through so much paper towel and having to change my son AND myself so much. We've made the switch to Born Free and so what if there is an extra part to clean. Do yourself a favour and SKIP this brand.

I have read repeatedly about parents complaining about Avent bottles leaking, yet I still have not had any leaking problems with my Avent products (I am a mother of two!).
If you are like me and like the wider bottles and prefer plastic over glass, I think this is a great choice. Of note, the bottles all have a honey tint - the bottles appear slightly brown in different angles. I believe this is because of the BPA free material they use. I recommend them.

LEAK LEAK LEAK LEAK!,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, Dual Pack (Baby Product)
Consumers should be able to get their money back! They leak 100% of the time! I have no idea why but I will have to shake first, then take out the nipple from the screw cap and twist a little and then reinsert EVERY TIME I use these bottle so it won't leak. We aren't talk a few drops here folks, but a pour all over your babies clothes. Let me tell you from experience that this is so much fun when it happens at 2am on your newborn's clothes when you are 1/2 awake.
This is my second baby and I used the old Avent bottles with my now 7 year old and these new ones are faulty. Even wetting them nipple to get a good seal before putting it in the cap doesn't work. I even found some website that tried to explain how to fix the problem and still doesn't work. DON'T BUY THESE BOTTLES!

Leaks? Here's how to stop them.,

If you have leaks with this bottle, you can stop them easily: Pull the nipple through the collar half-way and stop pulling. Then PUSH the nipple through from the back, making sure it seats evenly all around. It will snap into place. Easy!
You'll be tempted to pull the nipple through the collar and then screw the bottle together. Heck, doing so is instinctive. It will also practically guarantee that the nipple doesn't seal against the collar, and the bottle will leak. These bottles work well and they're easy to clean. The venting works. They're BPA-free.

I love these bottles!,
This review is from: Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle, 9 Ounce, Dual Pack (Baby Product)
So our 10month old had acid reflux so we used dr browns. Now being better (since I used these with our now 6yr old back in the day)... I wanted to go back to them since I loved them 6 yrs ago. Not sure why people are having all these problems!? I had used them for over a week and I am yet to get a leak. They are great ..... just like I remember them. Easy to clean and I love that there aren't as many parts to clean. They stay well i stroller cup holder because of their wide base and work well. Unless they magically loose their "umph" with use... I love them and will recommend them any day. :)
