I have been using this pump since my oldest daughter was born, almost 8 years ago. Initially, I had nothing to compare it to, but thought it was very comfortable and worked great. When my 2nd daughter came, she was in the NICU and I was given a hospital grade pump to use until she came home. After she was released they offered for me to rent their pump which I did not find necessary because the avent pump was working so well for me. It expresses quickly, it's easy to use one-handed. I have never tried avents electric pumps but am sure they are great too. I like the control I have with the pump - the "petals" work amazingly. I have replaced this pump with each child (now 3) though it was unnecessary - they always worked - I was just eager to get rid of "clutter" as they grew older. ** Note - the only thing worth noting about this product is that it is important to pay attention to the way you put the pieces back together after cleaning. There is a very small rubber piece that fits inside the pump and if it is placed upside down, the pump will not work correctly. An easy fix, but frustrating if you do not realize what is wrong.

I started using this pump as my weekend backup after returning to work full time. I keep a Medela Pump IN Style in my office and didnt want to lug it home every day. Funny thing is, this little pump is a champ! My Medela would make my breasts sore from time to time and the suction became unreliable after 9 months of constant use. I used my Isis when I had a sore breast due to clogged ducts and it worked so gently and efficiently. I still pump twice a day at work and have switched to this little pump. It works just as fast because it is more comfortable, thus encouraging a faster let down of milk. My electric was so uncomfortable at times I could barely get 2 ounces. WIth my Isis I can almost always get between 3-5 and up to 6 if its the first pumping of the day. I love that I dont have to fuss with tubes, plugs, batteries, etc. My only complaint is that after a while the handle "squeaks" a bit with each pumping motion. It takes some practice to use it and get good results, but dont give up on it! I had it for my son and did not have luck with it, I recommend using it after breastfeeding is well established and you have been pumping for a while. Great pump for the price and gentle on mom:)

I'm so glad I got this before baby was born. It works so well and is so much more convenient, and easy to clean than any of the pumps I tried with my first son- even the electric ones which I always thought were much more hassle than needed. Wish I had had it first time around!

I've not bought electric pumps before so my review only compares manual pumps and Avent makes the best pump out there, no comparisons. I produce very copious quantities of milk and I suppose that makes it easier for the pump to extract the milk, none the less, design, and practicality in mind, especially when cleaning the pump, and it's ease of use, it is 5 of 5 stars.

after quite a bit of research, i bought this pump. it is okay. sometimes it leaks through the rubber petal part. the milk gets under the petal bumps and leaks out. on the plus side, it is easy to clean and assemble. i have never used an electric pump but feel that this manual is sufficient. the pump can be a bit squeaky at times, but that doesnt really bother me. i think it has to do with how dry it is when you assemble it. it didnt rock my world, but it is okay. i would buy this pump again.

I am a first-time mother and wanted a pump that would be quick and easy for me to use just once daily. I am able to pump 4 oz. or more in about 5 minutes with this pump. I was worried that my hand would get tired, but that was never the case. It is able to stimulate a let-down every time and is very comfortable. The only problem I run into is that some milk collects between the pump and the silicone insert, but since you have to wash it between pumpings, it really isn't that big of a deal. I've been using it for over a month now and haven't had any problems. It does squeak a little as you pump, but I don't think you'll find a pump that is perfectly silent.

This kit is great. It is a manual pump so it is easy to clean and sanatize. Also the bag is insulated and it comes with two ice packs so you can keep milk cold between work and home, or wherever you pump. Also the pump is compatible with all the Avent bottles I already have which is great. Great kit for the price.

I love this pump! I bought this manual for my second baby. I used to have an electronic one but it gave out on me after just a few months. This manual is awesome and I got just as much milk pumped with this as I did with my electric one in less time! Forget the electric and just do this one! It is amazing. It is easy to assemble, and I love how there are spare parts included. This pump worked great on trips. We didn't have to stop driving. I would just pump and feed the baby with the bottle immediately. Very simple, awesome suction and wonderful and emptying my breast. I never felt full or anything after using this pump. I also ended up using this pump exclusively for 2 weeks to help my nipples heal. I definitely recommend this pump to anyone! I'll be using this same pump for my next one so it really lasts!

I have tried out 4 different electric pumps, all of which we pretty uncomfortable for me...then I got this pump and it was a God send!!! Its very gentle, yet efficient. I am able to get 4 ounces per side within about 10mins. Its very quiet and easy to assemble. The only thing is, if you have good flow going, you may have to un latch the pump from your breast to get the milk to drop down into the bottle. Also, you don't need to squeez the handle all the way down either, usually about halfway is good enough. It also doesn't make my hand get tired either! All in all, it is a great pump for your money. I suggest buying extra Avent bottles so you don't have to switch them out as often. The bottles it comes with are only 4 ounces, and if you pump more than that, you will have to put a new bottle on to finish pumping.

I have never used a breast pump, but this quickly and easily does the job for me. My only complaint is that the rubber fitting over the "bell shaped" part of the pump does not seal well, so I have to hold it very securely onto the breast and sometimes even hold the seal to the pump while pumping. I don't know if this is a problem with all of this type, or if I happened to receive a lower quality part.
