Philips AVENT Non Spill Soft Spouts, 12 Months

My son prefers these to any other sippy cup spout, so I ordered extras for the cups that he has to replace the hard spouts that came with the Avent sippy cups. They even fit in the Avent bottle tops, so I was able to "create" several more sippy cups out of them. The other advantages to these spouts is that they don't leak like many others, and they last a long time, even with dishwasher cleaning.

I love the spouts because you use them with the Avent bottles you already have. You don't have to invest in new cups, and you save cabinet space because you use the bottles you already own and don't have to store them. I wish I would have know about these spouts earlier. I bought an Avent Magic Cup and realized the spout that fits it also fits the regular bottles. Then, I found that you can buy just the spouts individually and bypass "magic cups" and all sippy cups altogether. Great idea!

Avent needs to do a better job of advertising the fact that their bottles can accept so many modular pieces! Spending $5 on a sippy spout dual pack to instantly create two sippy bottles, while being able to use all the Avent parts and accessories was a lot easier than trying to switch to another brand. Very convenient!

That being said, Amazon has the wrong description for this product as of this writing (Jan-2011). Per manufacturer's website, for part number SCF147/82:
"The Philips AVENT Hard Spouts are designed for toddlers that start teething to be more resistant and durable. With easy-sip and easy to clean non-spill valve."

It sounds like the flow rate might be the same as SCF146/02 -- just that it's made of stiffer material to resist biting.

Minor gripe -- With many of their other products (eg: diapers), Amazon product pages have 1-2 screens worth of full-color, information packs from the vendor that do an excellent job of explainig the product line. For Avent products, we tend to get incorrectly/poorly labeled/described products, very few images, and 3-5 lines of very terse description. I don't know if this is the fault of Amazon or Philips, but it's certainly disappointing.

If you're purchasing Avent products in general, I would *HIGHLY* recommend you visit their website to learn about their full product range and then make your purchases at Amazon.

I have some of the older Avent cups that have three pieces to the spout and they never leaked at all. So when I bought the new spouts I did not think that they would leak either but I was wrong. Avent has changed there spouts to just two pieces and the air hole leaks fluid after your child begins drinking from the cup. I thought it was just my old cups so I went out and bought new cups and they do the exact same thing! I really thought these were great products with my first two kids but now with the third I am second guessing the quality of the products.

The Avent bottles can withstand a lot, so I didn't want to get rid of them (especially with how expensive sturdy sippy cups can be). This converted perfectly from the nipple to the sippy top. It snapped in and fit snugly with no leaks. Super easy to clean. I take out the seal because my son doesn't like to have to suck too hard to get the juice/milk... it still works perfectly.

I love the option of using the bottles I already have as sippy cups.

I have never had any problems with the Avent magic spouts! I love that I could convert all of my Avent bottles to sippy cups. My daughter didn't like these until she was about 8 months old - but she eventually got the hang of it and now doesn't use nipples anymore. The only drawback is that I have only been able to find the spouts and handles sold separately online.

I do like these. My son is still chewing too much for the green spouts--hello, toothmarks! so I got these. I actually bought them to go in my Klean Kanteen sippy top, and of course they're perfect for that. I haven't had a leak problem with these yet, and they're soft so they don't hurt DS's mouth if he whacks himself.

These are the usual firm plastic spouts, not the soft ones, unless I got the wrong item sent?!? They are green, on my pc they almost looked blue. I should have just gotten the white 6+ month ones. These work just fine, I just have them already. The white soft ones are nice, but they stain. I always see people complaining about avent leaking, I haven't found a sippy cup that doesn't ever leak, these are the best so far. Most of the others are impossible to clean because they have so many darn pieces, this has two pieces that come apart & clean very easily. They just need to change the title of the product!

spouts are easy to use for my 6mo old. We purchased to use with the BPA free Klean Kanteen.
