NO PROBLEMS HERE!,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT Hard Spout Magic Trainer with Handle, 9 Ounce, Twin (Baby Product)
Our son is almost 16 months old and we have been using these sippy cups for about 10 months now. We have never had them leak, mold, spouts push through or anything! I suggest reading the directions before tossing these sippy cups in the trash. I cannot get over how many parents assume that the Avent line is alot of "hype" just because they failed to read directions.
As for the complaints about mold and sour milk...that's just gross. Wash the sippy cup after it's used. I'm sure any other brand would get moldy and smelly if you left it in your trunk all summer...not Avent's fault! Anyway, as for the green spouts being stiffer than the white ones and more difficult to clean...OK, maybe for the first few times because they are new; but they WILL get more pliable. I spoke to an Avent rep at the Baby Fair in Edison, NJ and she suggested buying new spouts every month or so (same for nipples with Avent bottles). They do wear out...especially if you're using the same two or three sippy cups every day. I just bought (and tried) the "sport spout" and although it is quite a mouthful of liquid that comes out, our son has no problem with that spout, either. No leaks so far. All in all, read the directions and you will see the leaks disappear like MAGIC! Good luck!

Does your baby bite his/her sippy cup or refuse to drink?,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT Hard Spout Magic Trainer with Handle, 9 Ounce, Twin (Baby Product)
Well my baby boy is 12 months old now. He wouldn't drink from any bottle or sippy cup. He took one sip out of the 9oz Avent trainer cup and loved it. He laughed because, it met his teething needs. He has been teething and places an enfasis on chewing everything. He was nursed, but only used Avent bottles when needed.

Only trainers we use...,

This is the only kind of trainer/sippy we use in our house. We started with the soft-spout 5oz ones; my son, now 2.5, was breastfed and refused a bottle. We introduced a cup around 6 months and this was the only one he would use (initially with the valve off to help him 'get' the concept). Later, we added the valve to make them leakproof (we've never had problems with leaks). We switched to the larger 9 oz "toddler" cups with the harder spout when he was around 12 months or so, mostly because we were happy with the Avent infant trainers we had been using and we could inerchange parts with them; they are pretty much the same (save for the size and a hard plastic spout vs a softer rubbery one). I do prefer the updated valve design. The first ones we bought feature a 2 part valve system that snaps into the spout, while the updated ones feature a 1 part valve system. They seem to function the same, with the newer ones having 1 less part, which is good. I'm not sure they even sell the older design anymore. I also ditched the handles pretty early on as they weren't necessary. They were good to have when he was first learning to hold a cup, but we haven't really used them much after that. They just got in the way, particularly when carrying the cup in the bottle pocket of a diaper bag. The handles are easliy removable. I find these cups to be very easy to clean (we usually toss ours in the dishwasher, valves & spouts going into a basket to keep them together). I much prefer them over the straw-sippys for that reason. They are kind of boring, but we try to stay away from licensed character stuff anyway so not an issue here. I am also pleased to find that these cups are BPA-free.

Best sippy cups EVER!!,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT Hard Spout Magic Trainer with Handle, 9 Ounce, Twin (Baby Product)
I started using the Avent sippy cups when my first child was 6 months old. We started out with the white spouts, then the green and finally the clear hard plastic spout. I used the same cups and replaced the spouts with my second child. Never in 7 years have I ever had one of these cups leak...except when my mother in law fixed a cup of juice and didn't put the rubber seal on the bottom of the spout! My girls would throw them on the floor, shake them and generally try to destroy them....still NO LEAKS!! I am on baby #3 now and am getting ready to start her on the Avent sippy cup too. I'm not sure why people are complaining about these things leaking....it's almost impossible. Hands down the best sippy cups ever and well worth every dime. Also, for those of you that have a toddler and an infant...you can interchange the nipples in the Avent bottles with the sippy cups and vice versa. Comes in handy in the middle of the night when making a matching set is almost an impossibility!

Perfect for transition from bottle to sippy cup,

I have found these cups to be incredibly helpful when I transitioned my babies from bottles. There are a few parts but I used to wash many more when using Dr. Brown's bottles so maybe it just doesn't bother me. My babies use these cups with ease and I've found them to be very durable.

Never Had A Leak!,

I will first admit that there are additional parts to these cups that need to be washed, but since we used Dr. Brown's bottles, I was used to a few pieces.
The soft spout on these cups is great, and made transitioning to a cup SO easy for us. My son hasn't taken a bottle since his first birthday, and never missed them a bit. There are two levels of spouts, one harder one softer. I've tried other soft spout brands, but have had leaking from the collars. Avent cups NEVER leak as long as the valves are inserted correctly. Our little guy will use any brand or spout type, but these are his favorite and nice on sore gums. I really recommend these cups despite the extra valve pieces (which I simply pop in the dishwasher in a basket). You'll never have spills on your sofa or carpet.

These are the worst!,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT Hard Spout Magic Trainer with Handle, 9 Ounce, Twin (Baby Product)
Avent makes the best washable baby bottles around, so we felt that their sippy cups would be just as good. Well we were wrong. Of the five cups we had, all of them leaked and have since been thrown out. The cups are five different pieces vs other brands that use three pieces, which makes them harder to wash, harder to put together, and more pieces to lose. As far as sippy cups go, these are among the most expensive you can buy and worst that we used out five different brands. We have had great luck with Greber's and Playtex's. Please avoid!

Regarding the leaks...,

these are my favorite juice cups because they DO NOT LEAK. We have 4 toddlers in our family that like to throw their cups around the house. My sister in law has complained that they leak but when I open the cup I notice the rubber piece is not in correctly. As long as you assemble the cup correctly you will not see a leak. I always turn the cup upside down in the sink to make sure I put the parts in right. Going to buy some more as soon as I post this review. :-D

The Transition Was Easy.,
By
This review is from: Philips AVENT Hard Spout Magic Trainer with Handle, 9 Ounce, Twin (Baby Product)
A little before our boy reached one year old, our pediatrician told us to gradually make the shift to more and more solid foods. The transition was easy. She also suggested that the boy should not be using nipples beyond the year one and we should gradually shift over to using sippy cups.
We've used Avent bottles, for the most part, and have been very satisfied with them. As such, when the transition came we simply switched over to the Avent 9-ounce Magic Trainer. It took a little while, but the transition was easy and it's now the only bottle he uses. No problems. He picked up on the difference real fast. Gary Peterson

Magic they are....,
This review is from: Philips AVENT Hard Spout Magic Trainer with Handle, 9 Ounce, Twin (Baby Product)
When my son was born he had a feeding problem. The hospital actually kept him for over a week. Once I brought him home, the problem continued. I was using the Nuk brand even though my husband bought me the avent bottles. I tried them one day and his problem was fixed. Now that he is older he is using the sippy cups. I loved how they have soft nipples. I love everything about the Avent brand. As far as leaking goes, the only time the cups leak is when the nipple is not pulled all the way into place or the lid is not screwed on right.(so it is my fault if it leaks.) They are easy to clean and to use. These cups are really magic.
