Tuck Philips AVENT washable nursing pads into your bra to keep yourself protected against unexpected leaks between feedings. A layer of soft cotton presses against your skin, and decorative floral lace offers a no-slip surface to keep the pad in place inside your bra. The absorbent core locks moisture away from the skin, holding it inside the leak-proof liner to maintain your comfort. These pads can be machine washed and dried inside the provided laundry bag.

Well I have tried 4 brands of washable nursing pads in the first two months of motherhood and they are:

Gerber - one star - pros: cheap, thin, made of a few layers of regular tightly knit cotton against the skin with a waffle like poly/cotton outer layer that faces your bra - cons: the pad diameter is too small to provide adequate leak coverage no matter how you position it around your nipple and material does not hold ANY amount of fluid - don't waste your money!

I have tried literally every brand of disposable and washable nursing pads out there. If you are a new mom in the first few months of nursing buy disposable (Lansinoh are my favorite). They absorb a lot more than any washable ever will. However, I found that after a few months (I nursed my son for 13 months) I leaked much less and could wear the washable ones without fear of looking down and finding a soaked shirt. The advantage of washable is that they are softer and cheaper over the long run. That said, I liked the Medela ones better than Avent because they were larger and less noticeable under clothes. I do own several pairs of the Advent ones though and they work fine.

Yes, these may show a little more than disposable pads, but most of the time you're not wearing skin-tight tops while you're breastfeeding. These did not slip around me unlike disposables and were much softer to wear. I never planned that the pads should last all day/night, I tended to change pads at every feeding so I never ended up leaking through these. For "sticking", I had the same problem with some disposables; it happens when you leak and don't change the pad (and it dries, thus the sticking). I preferred buying 2 sets of the washables instead of continually buying disposables and adding to the landfill problem.

I have to agree with some other online reviews regarding sticking. They do stick a bit after some leakage. Let's face it, in the beginning, disposables are the only thing that make sense. I used disposables for the first 2 months and then switched to the washables. I tried Medela pads and they didn't absorb ANYTHING! The Avent pads absorb well and I didn't have leakage problems that other reviewers have had. My pads would get soaked and I wouldn't have wet spots on my shirt. They do move around within my bra, though. I have had times that the pad wasn't properly posiitoned and I had a let down and got wet. Let's face it, it's the "hazard" of the job! :)

My wife and I just had our second baby and wanted to try and save come money by using washable nursing pads. The firs kind we tried were simply 5 layers of organic cotton TL Care 6 Pack Organic Cotton Nursing Pads, Natural, they soaked through and just were not very absorbent. We got these to try an found them to be satisfactory. Granted we are comparing them against disposables which are very absorbent, but these work well enough for daily use. The are more absorbent than the 5 layer cotton, my wife says she would recommend them, and I am getting ready to order a couple more packs of them myself.

update 03-03-2013, we now have 8 packs of these total, my wife goes through them in about 5 days give or take. We found that ordering a mesh bag to put the dirties in and wash them in(so they don't get lost)has been invaluable an recommend this bag Honey-Can-Do LBG-01145 Lingerie Wash Bag, White. We plan on buying several more bags. Also my wife recommends using disposables while out of the house in general, but for in the home day to day use these are great. She recommends these disposables Lansinoh 20265 Disposable Nursing Pads, 60-Count Boxes (Pack of 4), as they are a bit more absorbent and larger than others, and come in individual baggies for ease of transport.
