5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful 22 hours
The sound on this baby is great and it runs for 22 hours compared to my old one which would only run 6 hours. Great for cross-country trips. The car kit is excellent. GREAT DEAL!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Huge Disappointment, April 11, 2002
I used to have what i believe was the older version of this model (the top was completely opaque and the buttons were small circles). I was very very pleased with that one, until i lost it. This one, on the other hand, couldn't even compare. The resume resumes from where ever the player wants, not necessarily where you left off. Sometimes, it simply refuses to read a track, but spends minutes trying. The unit skips for no apparent reason, even when i'm not moving it. The final kicker was when i dropped it (no more than 2 feet), the top came off, and even though i was able to snap it back in with no apparent physical damage, it no longer works at all...

This review is from: Philips AX5015 Personal CD Player with 45-Second Anti-Skip and Car Kit (Blue) (Electronics)
I've bought this discman primarily for it's car kit - it was a lot cheaper solution for listening CDs in the car, than "real" car CD player. It works perfectly, even on bumpy roads with ESP turned on.

I like to make my own CDs with favourite songs, so I record them all on 1-6x Teac CD-R. Philips has no problems whatsoever with those CDs. Also, I dropped it few times (2-3ft), and though you can clearly see scratches (on the transparent plastic cover), it works fine. Though, it looks pretty fragile, so be careful.

The only problem I've encountered is postion of Next and Previous (or F Fwd and F Bwd) buttons, which are "linked" and very near to Play and Stop buttons. So, instead of skipping the track, you could return it to the beginning, and when you drive, it's not really healthy to look at the CD.

Anyway, price is fine for what you get, and if I had to buy again - I would buy this player.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best until Broken, March 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Philips AX5015 Personal CD Player with 45-Second Anti-Skip and Car Kit (Blue) (Electronics)
This is a totally awesome cd player.... it never skips! I ran with it and it was fine. I love the "resume" feature, and the sound was great. Yet there are a few key problems with this unit. If you drop it from like 3 feet off the ground onto CARPET it breaks! I had this from christmas until march, when i dropped it from my (top) locker at school onto the carpeted floor. When i got into the car that night, it made crazy clicking sounds and said "nf disc," whatever that may mean. All i know is its broken now and I'm quite upset! This is great if its kept in a safe spot, but don't drop it, whatever you do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally skip-proof in the car., December 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Philips AX5015 Personal CD Player with 45-Second Anti-Skip and Car Kit (Blue) (Electronics)
I purchased this unit for my company car since I'm not allowed to install an in-dash unit. My old cd player skipped endlessly; older technology. Well this thing never skips; ever. I keep it on the passenger seat. Not only does it never skip; once I had to slam on the brakes and the whole unit flew (literally) onto the floor. It never skipped a beat. It just kept on playing. Also, the unit makes electronic "beaps" when you press a button, which is handy in the car when you don't want to take your eyes off the road but appreciate the confirmation. Also, the unit has a "resume" feature which picks up the cd where you left off; even when power to the unit ceases (like when you turn off the engine). In other words, it saves your place. This is especially handy for people who listen to recorded books. Also, the car kit works great.

Great sound and anti-skip is excellent! Doesn't even skip in my husband's hot rod truck! Could use a little more volume. Headphones are also good. Excellent value for this item considering it comes with a car kit! Highly recommended!

this is a very high quality product, ive experenced no problems as far as skipping, reading cdrs, or power management and i have owned this for almost a year and use it every day, i also love the design... the batterys are stored inside the unit under the cd so they dont fall out while jogging. this features a fully functional hold-resume switch and a cool layout.

This review is from: Philips AX5015 Personal CD Player with 45-Second Anti-Skip and Car Kit (Blue) (Electronics)
What a piece of junk...this unit couldn't even take one time dropping it....It broke...and this was dropping it from a normal distance onto carpeting....A waste of money and not worth replacing. I would not recommend buying this at all....

1.0 out of 5 stars Jogproof--that's a joke!, September 16, 2001
By A Customer
If you plan on using this while running, be forewarned that it skips more than a six-year old girl in pig-tails and braces. Also, every time your foot hits the ground, this CD player creates a strange echo and cracking sound. In short, shell out the extra bucks and buy a better player than this.
