This little boombox from Philips has a big sound! I wanted something small and compact that didn't cost a lot to take to the beach and this was perfect. I didn't expect it to sound so good, almost as good as my stereo system at home. Its lightweight so great for travel to the beach, pool or camping. I love it!

This is a perfect dorm room stereo. It is attractive, pretty solidly put together and has a very nice sound with surprisingly good stereo separation. The CD player is also very good, and the FM tuner is well above average (actually more sensitive than the nice Bose system that won't be headed for the dorm). My only regret is that it doesn't come with a remote, but of course that's not a surprise. For the price, it's a great deal.

I was excited when I got a gift certificate from my hubby and kids for Valentine's day to amazon.com. I knew just what I wanted. After much looking I settled on the Philips CD and Cassette boombox. What a mistake! I've had it only a month and today I boxed it back up and I'm sending it back. The base boost is terrible. The sound is muddy and cd's sound terrible. The cassette player started playing my cassettes backwards! These are new cassettes and work fine in my car. The reception on the AM and FM bands were lousy. I was VERY disappointed with this product. I only hope I will get a full refund. This is not a good product. It looks better than it really is. Cheaply made.

I bought it at 2001, after 3 years, it still works great. There are never even slightly mistake it had ever made during the past 3 years. It was also with us when we travelled across US. If you are looking for a reliable and affordable boombox, this one is not a bad choice

I purchased this product for my then 11 year old son 2 years ago. All components are still functioning well. This is terrific, in light of the fact that for most of those 2 years it was regularly dragged on car trips (since the tape player on our van broke), as well being mishandled by 3 young children. I purchased another brand for my daughter, and hers has not held up nearly as well. The CD player broke and the tape player eats tapes.
This has been a solid product, and I am planning to replace my daughter's with one.

My title says it all. Opened the box, tried it, the CD player did not work at all... returned it.
