I was looking for a CD player for my office, and this one caught my eye primarily because it's attractive -- I like the curved design and the color scheme. It also works great. The sound is clear, and I've never had any problem with the CD or tape decks, or encountered any problem taping things from CDs. I occasionally have problems picking up radio stations, but I attribute this largely to the fact that my office is in a deep, dank basement where signals may be faint at best. The thing I love most about this box is that it's very compact, but the sound quality is great whether I'm playing Nine Inch Nails or Boccherini's cello concerto's. I also love the fact that the small size makes it convenient to take along to the classroom, should I decide to use music in my lectures. If you're looking for something fancy, you might want to try another unit. If you're looking for a compact, attractive unit for simply playing CDs or tapes, then this is a great choice.

I really like this product. The shipping was quick. The sound quality of the radio and the tape player is excelent! But then there is th CD player. I purchased it for the CD player and it isn't working properly and trying to get ahold of someone that can help is imposible. And another thing is, it is taking forever for the slip to come so they can replace my broken one.

I bought one of these about a year ago (not from Amazon) and had problems immediately. Within a month the volume control went haywire. By six months it barely played a CD without problems. I am now replacing it after one year because it has stopped playing altogether. I will never buy a Philips boombox again.
