This is the only product on the market that fit 3 simple requirements I had:
1. Portable boombox
2. Will play my stacks of mp3 CDs
3. Will dock my ipod and play songs from the boombox controls.

Didnt think that was alot to ask but this really is the only product of its kind. Works great and would have gotten 5 stars if not for following flaws:
1. No power button on the remote! This is a biggie. You have to remember to turn it on before you sit down across the room. And you cant leave it on all the time either because of its energy saving shutdown feature.

2. They got rid of the preset buttons in favor of a sleeker look. Thats OK, but it sure isnt as nice to go to your favorite AM or FM stations by hitting the forward and back buttons and cycling through all 25 presets. Would rather have the first 6 as hard keys (like in a car stereo).

3. AM antenna reception could be better.

4. Sleek & shiny black casing looks real slick and nice but it also shows fingerprints and dust alot.

5. [Minor complaint] CD loader is a tray that comes out like on a computer. Sort of slow but its OK.

Everything else is perfect in every way! Love this thing and highly recommend it if you can get over the issues above.

Cons: You cannot charge 4th generation ipods from the dock. There is no EQ, nor smartsound presets.

Pros: This little box outperformed my expectations. It sounds great, even though you have to use the factory preset and can't tweak the EQ manually. It has really good power; I can turn it on in the dining room and fill the entire downstairs with clean-sounding music. There is no significant distortion when you crank up the volume.

Summation: To my mind, for the money you're paying, this product is extraordinary. I would recommend it to anyone.

I had tried to find a boombox with ipod dock what would also play MP3 cd's and couldn't find it anywhere, until I found the Philips AZ1330. It's a great item. The sound is really good and it plays any kind of ipod. I am really happy with the purchase and I would highly recommend this product.

I agree with the first reviewer about the functionality, but the unit is acoustically awful. It sounds ok for fm, but when you play cd's or mp3's the tinny bass deficient and distorted sound are unbearable. I cannot recommend it even though I had high hopes.

I still have an older Phillips unit that I use in my garage and it has great sound and is easy to use. This unit will only operate with the remote control, which I don't like, and I don't think it has the sound quality of sound either. I am disappointed in this model.

good product...works as described...cd/mp3/ipod/aux input, remote - good features, what i want and use...

only bad say is - sound quality is not great - disappointing...the DBB (Dynamic Bass Boost) make very little difference...if the sound have been good, this product wud have been just great...

also, u cannot navigate ipod menu and categories with the report - only play, stop, next, previous buttons on the remote and the player - for everything else u need to use the iPod buttons - its an inconvenience but can live with it...

Well, after many years of cruddy radios available on the market this PHILLIPS box has satisfied my criteria for my tuning in....Great sound, Ease of use, Small footprint, Modern looks, and Best Of All-- NO TAPE PLAYER-- I mean if you still got them around then look at the other brands and get that. For me its digital all the way-clean, smooth, workable.

The Philips AZ1330D MP3/WMA-CD Speaker System with Remote Control and iPod Dock looks good and sounds nice. Unfortunately, though, I had to return it because it wouldn't charge the latest iPod Nano (5th generation). Instead, I kept getting the following message from my iPod:"Charging is not supported with this accessory."

The description says "Built in iPod docking to easily connect and charge you iPod or Philips Go Gear MP3 player," but don't fall for it. This unit doesn't work with the Philips GoGear Vibe. They don't dock together and there is no USB connection on the AZ1330D. On the Philips website, there is an FAQ for this boombox that implies there is a USB port -- but there's not. The description also claims there are eight adapters to work with different iPods, but there are only four included adapters. This is the first time I've ever known a description on Amazon to be misleading, but this one is patently false.

I find it a very good product. It has the control/management I was seeking; especially like the remote control as it is proving very useful. Wish the fast forward was a little faster.
