5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
... this is one KILLER CD player. I bought a little pair of speakers, hooked them up in my cubical at work and ROCK OUT! It's powerful enough to entertain my neighbors (at work that is) and never, ever skips. The headphones are great, the digital bass is warm and full, and it's ultra compact, and it's good on batteries. The a/c adapter is a plus, but it's easier on...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice for a while
I have owned this product for about eight months. It worked fine up until a week ago when it all of sudden stopped working. It was work fine but when I turned it back on it was making cracking sounds and then nothing. The cd kept spining but there was no sound.

Go buy this and be happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD Player, January 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Philips AZ9001 Personal CD Player (Electronics)
I don't know what some of the reviewers are talking about. This is a great cd player. I've had some other cd players before but they would always skip, and because of that I couldn't run or jog with it. And also most of the headphones were horrible and would fall off. But this has been the best cd player I've gotten. It never skips while I run because of the 20 second skip protection and the headphones are great because they hug your head and won't fall off while jogging. SO I thought this was a great cd player and gave it 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars so pretty..., December 6, 2000

Better than a Hello Kitty CD player: it's about as small as they come, and it does not skip...not on an airplane or a bus, or in my pocket as I stroll down to buy more CD's. My only complaint is the headphones- unless mine were somehow defective, they weren't very comfortable and didn't sound very good. Even the smallest setting was too big for my head, most music could only be heard at a volume setting between 8 and 10 (max), and I couldn't listen to classical music at all. Once I started using better headphones, though, the performance was great. The "hold" feature is also very helpful if you're biking, walking, jogging, etc., as none of the buttons will accidentally go off and your music won't be interrupted. And you can't beat the faux I-Mac styling. A good value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Player, December 24, 2000

It's about time someone made a player that can use CD-RW's. I change music constantly and prefer CD-RW's because I can erase them and record new music.

Have to many CD's from downloading MP3's online just to make CD-R's was getting ridiculous.

Though the player isn't really stylish, it get the job done. All the features are great. 20hr battery life, 12sec anti-skip protection and much much more. The price make this the biggest steal of the year.

It's a must have portable! Get it now! I already have mind!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable value, January 8, 2001
This review is from: Philips AZ9001 Personal CD Player (Electronics)
I was pleasantly surprised when my cd player arrived, it looked better than the pictures. The sound is amazing, I use it on the go and in my car. It really doesn't skip. At that price I couldn't resist. I got much more than my money's worth.

I already reviewed this cd player once, but since then I got a new computer. Now that I'm using Adaptec instead of Nero to burn my cd's, they work fine. The volume is still a little too quiet, but I can live with that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than I expected for under $50, January 25, 2001

The quality was excellent, and the headphones were better than I expected, although, they could be better. Never skips, dropped it from 3 ft. to a carpet, and there wasn't a skip. Only problem, there's no light for the display. So, when it's pitch dark, you have to know where the buttons are. Volume level is great, and there's lots of modes.

If you're looking at this model's big brother, with the 40-something second ESP3. I know what your thinking:

What about that one?

Well, I believe this model is already excellent and don't see how it could be better, by a lot..

Of course, I don't see how Sony wants to sell $150+ cd players for G-Protection. You could buy a MD PLayer for that money, and it could play MP3 and more...

Anyway, this is definitely a great buy, and I am very pleased. I'll buy more electronics from PHILIPS now.

4.0 out of 5 stars no skips!, August 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Philips AZ9001 Personal CD Player (Electronics)
i got this cd player to use while walking so i wanted something lightweight that wouldn't skip. it's terrific sound that doesn't skip. the hold-resume-off feature is a little confusing; i need to reread the instructions. the headphones are huge--they won't fit in my carrier, but they're good, and i use them at the health club for the tv sound as well. all in all, i'm very pleased!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent CD Player, June 2, 2001

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Philips AZ9001 Personal CD Player (Electronics)
With the help of Amazon sales rep I purchased this unit as 2 prevoius Casio's would not play CD-R's, or at least only about 50%. This unit is not phased by any CD-R. Has digital sound location and a real nice feel to it. Based on this unit would highly recommend Philip's CD players.
