I like this product a lot but I can see where it is not for everyone - your lifestyle and family style will need to decide.

1. This is a rather large appliance. When not in use, you have to have room to store it. It is the size of a relatively large coffee maker.

2. This is not that easy to clean - although I did not think to use cooking spray as I was following the directions. That may help a lot. It is large and bulky to put in the dishwasher but I may have to do that to get it clean.

3. The quantity you can make is small. This will not be the appliance you use for large families or parties. I have to make 2 batches of fries for my family of 5.

4. It is not an accelerated cooker. It still takes time to cook the food so if you have to make 2 batches for your family, it takes a good while.

5. The food out of here is exactly as promised - deep fried tasting and looking without frying! It is amazing. Restaurant quality fries, onion rings, wings, etc.

6. This is a quiet appliance, just sounds like a muffled hairdryer running.

7. Easy to use, load the basket and turn on

8. Temperature dial is a little difficult. It is divided by odd numbers so it has hash marks for 360, 390 degrees (etc). Not 325, 350, 400 like most. It makes it hard to guess where 350 is. A digital tempurature setting would be helpful.

9. It does not have a timer built in - it does ''ding'' when it is complete but some food you have to shake halfway through and it does not have an inicator for that - I have to set my oven timer to remember

10. There is no off/on or kill switch. The only way to turn it off is to twist the dial against the timer which I can't imagine is good for it.

I thought I'd just pass on to ppl who are interested in a Phillips air fryer, their selling a black one on hsn that looks nicer then the one in the above pic, it was on sale for 199, don't know how much they raised it up too, I think it was a today's special value 199 when I bought it.I just got it and tried a grilled cheese in it, it was crunchy on the outside gooey on the inside.Over the weekend I' ll be trying other things,if I can I'll come back an do a re review later if anyone's interested.

This product costs only about US$250.- in Thailand, where the seller ships it from. My sister bought it and it worked like magic. She could fry her foods without a single drop of oil and they came out perfect... amazing, I have to admit. I wanted to get one for myself but they use 220 V. in Thailand and to have to use a convertor in order to use it in the US is not ideal. It's a shame that Philips doesn't manufacture this product for the US market.

Great quality product and it delivers delicious food!!! I have air fried fresh cut zucchini sticks using the recipe book and homemade stuffed wontons (brushed with olive oil) in this "frier" so far--while owning it for only one day. The zucchini sticks were deliciously soft, moist and crispy where browned, the wontons were all crispy and browned. Very impressed with the browning and buttery taste. Not sure why others down play this product. I knew not to go by the reviews and to decide for myself, and I'm so glad I did, which is why I am determined to leave this review. I have not even tried french fried potatoes yet which are its main purpose, and I already love this "fryer". It is best to spray the basket with non-stick spray to avoid sticking, however, the user manual does not mention this. The full photo recipe book starts you out with several basic ideas that can be expanded on. This product must be used on heat resistant surfaces, so it cannot be set directly on high gloss granite, I guess. The Philips website has an endless amount of additional recipes, too.
