Rich and Powerful Sound with Wireless Music Streaming

If you are obsessed with sound you can now listen to all your digital music from your Smartphone via Bluetooth. This Philips Micro system also plays MP3-CDs and CD-R/RWs. It features Bass Reflex speakers for powerful and dramatic bass. Bluetooth technology allows easy wireless connection to iPod/iPhone/iPad or other Bluetooth devices, such as smartphones, tablets, or even laptops. You can easily enjoy your favorite music and sounds from videos or games wirelessly on this speaker.

Bass Reflex Speaker System

The Bass Reflex Speaker System delivers a deep bass experience from a compact loudspeaker box system. It differs from a conventional loudspeaker box system because of the addition of a bass pipe that is acoustically aligned to the woofer to optimize the low frequency roll-off of the system. The result is deeper controlled bass and lower distortion. The system works by resonating the air mass in the bass pipe to vibrate like a conventional woofer. Combined with the response of the woofer, the system extends the overall low frequency sound.

Audio-in and USB Direct for Easy MP3 Music

The Audio-in connectivity allows direct playback of Audio-in content from portable media players. All you have to do is plug your portable MP3 player into the audio system and you can enjoy the superior sound quality of your music over this system.

And, thanks to the complete file transferability, you can also easily enjoy the convenience of accessing more digital music via the built-in USB Direct.

Digital Sound Control and Dome Tweeter

Digital Sound Control offers you a choice of preset balanced, clear, powerful, warm, and bright controls you can use to optimize the frequency ranges for different musical styles. Each mode uses graphic equalizing technology to automatically adjust the sound balance and enhance the most important sound frequencies in your chosen music style. Ultimately, Digital Sound Control makes it easy for you get the most out of your music by precisely adjusting the sound balance to match the type of music you are playing.

Dome tweeters reproduce clear high and mid-range frequencies that enhance the overall sound clarity coming from the speakers. Delivering a harmonious blend of undistorted and uncolored wide-ranging sound, they offer detailed vocal clarity and instruments tone purity, thereby balancing the overall sound when paired with a combination of woofers.

Customer Reviews

It's much easier to use the remote than not.
Bartholomew Wojcik
Would still buy, but you might be better off buying an actual stereo receiver, rather than the package deal.
MikeyJ
I am very pleased with this purchase, pleasant to look at with a great sound.

Cons:
* The receiver for the remote requires a pretty direct line of sight in front of the unit. If your off at an angle, it may not respond to you're input.
* The controls on the box unit are limited. It's much easier to use the remote than not. (Don't misplace and lose your remote!)
* FM radio but no AM radio. Besides just wanting to listen to an AM station, if you're in an area which may come under threat of a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, or any other natural disaster, you will find AM stations far more helpful than FM, and that option is simply missing. (An FM radio already has what is needed for an AM, why would they not include the AM option?)
* No bass boost on/off option.

Pros:
* Good sound quality from high to low pitch. Even without a real sub-woofer, the bass is strong and clear.
* Strong sound can get loud. It does not suffer from weak or underpowered speakers.
* Many FM station presets can be made. (For full disclosure: I have not used this function.)
* The Audio-in capability allows a flash drive to plug directly into the unit and play. Very convenient.
* Can play CDs of various formats: MP3-CD, CD and CD-R/RW burned from a computer.
* Bluetooth wireless connection for playing music from your phone, tablet, iphone/ipad, etc. Another very convenient option.

Summary:
A nice system. I got mine at the biggest of the big box retailers for $99 when Amazon had it for $199. Go figure... usually these two companies aren't very far apart in price. It's a very respectable deal at $99, but for double that, it would be worthwhile to broaden your options and investigate other sources or systems.

I also bought mine at Wal-Mart for $98.00. Can't believe Amazon is so much higher, I tried to buy it here first. I was skeptical that this compact stereo would do anything that would make me actually keep it. Boy was I surprised! I am replacing a very old Kenwood (only because the CD player died after 15+ years) that we have out in our garage, just to listen to music when we are out doing yard stuff and washing the cars, etc. So obviously I did not want to spend a lot of money. Plugged it in on Sunday and went about my outdoor chores. The sound is phenomenal. Now if you are expecting sound quality of a REAL full-size stereo then why would you buy this? But for the price I can't say one bad thing about this stereo. It was a breeze to set up and an absolute joy to listen to! And it takes up 1/4 of the space of my old clunker Kenwood!

This is a nice system. Would definitely reccommend it, however, $199 is way too much. I got it for $100 at Wal Mart.

This is a very small system. The quality is not what I expected and I attempted to return it but it was classified as "hazardous material" (go figure) and not returnable. You have to love Amazon though, they promptly issued a refund because I was not happy with it and suggested I give it to charity.

First off, this unit does come with a Remote control! Nowhere on the box does it say that, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found the remote.
You can play music from a USB Memory stick! No need for an Ipod or anything, just load songs into a memory stick and your set! The CD also plays MP3 discs along with regular CD's. The speakers sound very good for a "micro" unit. Over all I am very pleased with this Phillips system! This is my second go at a stereo as I bought another brand at Amazon for the same price of $99 and sent it back, this one blows that other one away! It has all you need for great sound, I also plugged my speakers OUT of my TV into the AUX (or Ipod port) now I get good stereo sound from my DVD's and TV shows. Great system!

Great sound for the size, good for an office perhaps. Not loud enough for a large room though, and not a lot of bass if that's your thing. I didn't see any equalizer when I tried it out either.

I purchased this simply to play a flash drive that held all the songs I had ripped (in WMA format, of course) from my extensive CD collection. No brainer, right? But it was only once I purchased the unit and stuck the memory stick in the USB port did I learn that the machine ONLY reads MP3 format files, and no others. No WMA, no WAV, no nothing! What decade are these people from?

This limitation sure wasn't listed on the box, nor was it on the quick install brochure I checked out online before buying. They buried that essential fact on Page 16 in the full instruction manual - which isn't even in the box; only on their website.

Needless to say, the unit is going back. The only reason I gave it a second star is because I did find a song on my computer saved as an MP3, put it on the thumb drive - and it sounded okay.

The look and functionality exactly what I wanted. Cons the cd player is slow and noisy. Which is shocking considering cd players have been around for years. I have this in lower level and it doesn't pick up all radio stations (even though my clock radio in same room picks up stations this one doesn't). Great price for what you get but I guess you get the quality you pay for!
