You can record up to eight hours or to the end of the tape with the touch of a single button, and each touch of the OTR (one-touch record) button adds 30 minutes of additional recording time. The unit comes with standard eight-event, one-year programming for the VCR, and ShowGuard timer/programmer backup memory keeps all your timer/programming safe, even through power outages. Meanwhile, SmartClock with time-zone select maintains the correct time, regularly checking and updating the time if necessary. It also resets the clock after a power failure. Daylight savings time adjustment automatically compensates for Daylight Savings Time in early April and late October so you don't have to reset the clock twice a year; just "set it and forget it."
When tape playback begins, digital auto tracking seeks the optimum video and audio tracking positions for the clearest picture and sound. (Buttons on the remote transmitter give you manual control should tracking adjustments be necessary.) With automatic channel setup, the VCR tuner scans through television frequencies, automatically storing active broadcast channels into memory. Then, only channels programmed into memory are tuned using the channel up/down buttons on either the remote or front panel. Automatic channel preset can be repeated whenever desired, and you can always add or delete channels manually.
SQPB (S-VHS Quasi-Playback) lets you watch videotapes recorded in the S-VHS (Super-VHS) mode without buying expensive S-VHS equipment. The set's unified, multi-function remote operates all features and functions of both the TV and the VCR sections. Other features include closed-captioning, bilingual (English/Spanish) onscreen display, onscreen real-time counter, a sleep/wake timer, a monaural earphone jack for private listening, A-B and indefinite repeat play, a rapid-start mechanism, memory rewind/off, dew sensor, detachable sun screen, special effects, and 15x forward/reverse search.
What's in the Box
A nine-inch combination TV/VCR, a unified multifunction remote control with batteries, a monopole antenna, a DC car battery cord, a detachable AC cord, operating instructions, and warranty information.

I have been in the market for a combination TV/VCR for several months. We planned to use it during our many long "road trips" in our minivan. One piece of advice I've consistently received from friends who own these is -- GET A UNIT WITH SPEAKERS ON THE FRONT! In most cars or minivans, these units end up being propped between the two front seats, so the children in the back can easily see. When the speakers are on the SIDE (rather than the front), guess who ends up hearing all of those Barney songs?? You guessed it -- Mom and Dad! Somehow, in a moment of temporary forgetfulness, I ordered this Philips TV/VCR without noticing where the speakers were located. Silly me. When we received the item, we were really distressed to see that not only were the speakers on the SIDE, but there was only ONE speaker .. on the RIGHT side of the TV (left side if you're looking at the screen), which means that the audio blasts into the ear of the DRIVER. Not good at all. So if you are looking for a small TV/VCR to use in your home, and you don't care where the audio portion comes out, then this would probably be a great TV for you. But if it's going to spend a great deal of time in your car or van, I would highly recommend getting a different model. We have been pleased with our replacement TV, which is a Panasonic PV-920. It has speakers both in the FRONT and on the side. I can handle that!

Great for home or car!,

I bought this for my daughter's room but I wanted one that we could take along on car trips too. Everyone told me not to get the VCR and TV all-in-one the VCRs in them break easily. Well this has survived a 1,000+ round trip with a seven and a three year old jamming movies in, yanking them out, knocking it off the console and all kinds of other abuse. It still works great! The remote was easy to use and I like the automatic clock set feature! I recommend the TV VCR for anyone with kids!

Broke and ate tapes,

We had this unit for six months when it ate a tape and we had to pay to get the tape out. It costs too much to fix so now we have to buy a new unit.
