Amazon.com Product Description

The CDR795 dual-disc CD recorder from Philips offers a choice of 3 different recording speeds for both CD-R and CD-RW media: 1x, 2x, and 4x normal--twice as fast, at its fastest, as most component CD recorders. The CDR795 also has the ability to play (but not digitally copy) CDs filled with MP3 music files. This recorder uses separate high-performance Analog-to-Digital and 24-bit/96 kHz digital-to-analog converters (analog Devices AD1877 and AD1854) to deliver superior audio playback and recording quality.

In addition to recording, the recorder has a CD changer mode that uses both decks for playback or shuffle to provide longer listening. The CDR795 lets you easily program more than 90 tracks for recording or playback, and it's fully compatible with CD Text display, recording, and even editing--that's right, you can add customized text to your custom CDs.

As you know or will shortly discover, the average signal level from different external sources is not always the same, even among CDs. With the CDR795 you can even the levels from any source using its analog and digital faders (in some cases you may have to decrease the level of loud songs if songs with quieter average levels still peak at the maximum recordable level).

The recorder also offers one-touch timer recording from external sources via the deck's analog audio inputs. You start the recording manually and the player will stop recording after your choice of 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes (or, if you choose, at the end of the disc). With this deck, you'll never forget to finalize your CDs (a step required in order to play a recordable CD in a standard CD player): a message on the display will prompt you, after you try to open the CD-R drawer, to finalize the disc--but when needed.

The unit also employs a sample-rate converter that automatically converts audio signals with different sampling rates to the CD standard (44.1 kHz). To further ensure accurate copies, the model's drives use AudioCore with Philips's Bit Sync technology, ensuring that no music information is lost during the recording process. Both decks will play back all audio CDs. A full-featured remote is included.

For compliance with legislation relating to unauthorized copying of copyrighted material, Philips' CDR795 uses the Serial Copy Management System (SCMS), which lets you make first-generation digital copies from original, copyright-protected CDs, but prevents your making a digital copy of a digital copy.

Like all component CD recorders, the CDR795 writes only to recordable media designated as "audio," "DA," or "music"; PC data discs will not work for recording.

What's in the Box
CD recorder, a remote control, remote batteries, 2 stereo analog-audio interconnects, an AC power cord, and a user's manual with warranty information.
