Philips Cordless Phone with Answering Machine (SE6582B/37)

Having lived thru numerous 2-line systems (Motorola, AT&T, Panasonic) over the last dozen years, I was dredding an upgrade,,but my old system's batteries we're dying, numbers on pads were worn, etc. I was suspicous that Phillips could provide similar capabilities at a much lower price point. I bought the system with 2 additional cordless phones and have found that they work as advertised. I used the phones on conference calls and find the speaker phone works better then most. I noticed that if i dial a number before selecting the talk button, the button response time is normal, but if I press talk and then dial the numbers the response is somewhat delayed as others have mentioned. The tactile feel of the buttons is also not an issue unless you are planning to use your thumbs.

I give this 4 stars for providing base function at a great price.

I would not recommend buying this phone. I actually just returned it for the following reasons:

1) Cheap construction - buttons do not feel good, phone is super light and feels cheap.
2) Poor call quality - You can hear yourself talking in the earpiece...the echo is super annoying.
3) In the image, the screen seems to be bright and nice, but it's not. The graphics and display are pretty poor.
4) Navigating the menu is difficult and not intuitive.

I was a bit hesitant buying a phone and answering system that I never saw before, yet I read reviews and honestly; this phone is great. It is priced well, easy to use, and sounds GREAT! Some pointed out it doesn't auto-answer when you take it off base station- I think that is a good thing! Sometimes I want to turn down tv, radio before i answer!
All and all I am seriously pleased with this purchase
