I had and loved the previous model Philips speaker dock for the iPhone 4 and used it for 2 years until I dropped and broke the stand off of the back of it. I was using the previous model with the 30 pin to Lightning adapter with my iPhone 5 until I broke the stand. I bought the new iPhone 5 version of the speaker dock and it has a newly redesigned stand that is much better than the previous model and the sound quality is just as good, if not better, than the older model.

What I love about this Philips Speaker Dock is that it has great sound quality for the price (compared to other speaker docks I looked at) and the rechargeable battery makes it portable to use around the house as I move it from room to room. I use it in the kitchen while cooking, in the bathroom while showering, in the computer room while working, etc. It also charges the iPhone battery when it's docked whether the speaker dock is plugged in or not.

The newly designed power cord for this speaker dock also has an adjustable plug that allows you to spin the AC/DC adapter 360 degrees so that it will fit into any electrical outlet configuration whether it's a wall outlet or surge suppressor.

Sound is great; the speaker dock charges quickly. The biggest disappointment I have is that I have to pry my iPhone case off anytime I want to use the dock. The iPhone cannot be in its case when you connect it to the speaker dock - it will not seat properly and establish a connection if you have your case on your phone. But it works well with a uncased iPhone. It's just annoying to have to take your case on & off to be able to use the dock. Poor design is unfortunate for this otherwise great product.

The Philips DS7580 speaker for iPhone 5 works great. Sound quality is good.Bought it as a alternative to the BOSE speakers. Will not be disappointed for indoor usage.

Pros:
1) Sound quality is great. Has a BASS on/off button.
2) Works with all the apps in iPhone like Pandora, internet music etc.
3) Charges the iPhone even when the dock is not connected to the power supply.

Cons:
1) Sound loud enough only for indoors. Doesn't work good in the outdoors.
2) Wish it came with a remote.

Giving 4 stars just for the above 2 reasons. Worth the price when compared to the high end BOSE docking speakers.

The design, light weight and self-contained battery were all positives, Low maximum value and the need to remove the phone case for hookup were negatives; the case quickly began to show signs of stress and wear,

I like this. It's simple to set up--unwrap, pull out stand, plug in, mount iPod.

* It sounds decent,
* It has a good range of volume
* iPod is somewhat protected (since it's not mounted on top of the speakers, as most systems do).
* I like that I can just unplug the speaker with docked iPod and take it into another room.
* The mechanical on-off and volume buttons are easy to find in the dark.

It is hard to get the iPod positioned so I can see it without picking up or moving the entire speaker. It would be nice if the docking attachment swiveled forward a bit.

It's pricey for just a portable speaker. I shopped around but found no better choices.

I purchased the Bluetooth version DS7880 I have no apple products I connect with Bluetooth to my laptop and tablets. The sound of these speakers is excellent. As with all battery powered speakers they give full power when plugged in, when running on battery they are not as loud, but the battery life is excellent.

The first time you charge a device the uses li-ion batteries you need to leave the charger connected for several hours even if the indicator says it's fully charged, then fully discharge and follow with a charge to indicated full then fully discharge again then one last charge to indicated full, this conditions the battery. If you do not use the device for a long while you need to repeat the conditioning process. (never store a Li-ion device fully charged or discharged)

Since this has bluetooth and a 3.5mm input you can use this with many devices including older iPhones besides the iPhone 5 which it has a dock for.

I have used these speakers to listen to a wide variety of music and videos it most certainly has room filling sound and a surprising amount of bass. As with any speaker placing it near a wall will increase the bass, but I found it works very well when placed any where, if I were to use it in my back yard I would place it near a wall and plug it in so it would have full power. Any place else where I use them on battery I find they are fine for nearfield listening. If I was in a really loud environment I would use my headphone/earbuds or bring my full sized heavy Sony boombox which only last on battery about 4 hours at best.

If you need more power then get the non dock Philips P8BLK/37 Fidelio Bluetooth portable for a few dollars more. It is smaller, heaver but it does have a USB port for charging many portable devices.

Item arrived promptly. Works as promised.
Pros: compact size, light weight, great sound, super-fast charging your iPhone when dock itself is plugged into outlet.
Cons: must be careful when plugging iPhone into dock, the connector may lean in opposite direction and drop iPhone even when doing simple stuff like changing music station or track (mine was on the table, no big deal; could have been a bigger problem otherwise). Also: It would have made sense to connect iPhone and wireless speaker automatically when plugged into each other, without having to use Bluetooth (tends to drain battery pretty fast).
