Philips' DVD865AT DVD player offers discrete dual-laser pickup to ensure high-quality picture and sound with both DVDs and CDs. One laser is optimized for DVD playback, while the other is dedicated to CD playback. This configuration also maximizes laser life.

The Philips DVD865AT allows you to upgrade features as they become available using a special DVD disc. You can upgrade backgrounds, search speeds and modes, audio processing, display parameters, interactivity, titles, CD Text, languages, screen savers, and video processing.

Current features include virtual 3-D surround sound and a built-in Dolby Digital decoder with six-channel analog outputs. The decoder enables users to connect the DVD player directly to a five-channel amplifier and a powered subwoofer or a Dolby Digital-ready receiver. The DVD865AT's internal controls include speaker, subwoofer on/off, and a 10 dB delay for the center and surround channels.

Video features include a three-jack component output connection that provides maximum signal quality with enhanced color accuracy and better performance than with an S-video connection. The DVD865AT also provides excellent still-picture quality in pause, freeze-frame, or slow frame advance modes.

This player also offers an 80-disc parental approval system that, when activated, permits play of only authorized discs. The DVD865AT is covered by a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor.
