Philips Extra Large 7" LCD Screen Caller ID Display

The Gemini Philips Extra Large Screen Caller ID was exactly what we wanted and it worked fine for precisely eleven days, when the display screen stopped functioning. The light that lights up the screen and the incoming call indicator continued to work, so the problem wasn't a lack of electrical power. I submitted a request-for-support form on the ANTOnline Support Website, and in response they e-mailed me the Gemini Support Website URL with instructions to contact Gemini directly. On April 1st, I filled out Gemini's request-for-support form on the Website, sent it, and got an immediate response: "Thank you... Your support request has been sent." On April 12, with no further response from Gemini, I sent an e-mail message to ANTOnline Support with scanned copies of printed copies of all previous correspondence. A week later, not having received a response, I re-sent my previous message with a note urging them to respond. It's now 25 days later and I've not heard anything. It's a great product if it works, but you'll be out $40+ (with shipping) if it doesn't. Extremely poor customer service.

The caller ID is what I asked for. I needed one with Large numbers for someone going blind. In that aspect it is excellent. On the other hand You can't control the contrast and it's a bit too dark. Even I have a bit of a problem reading it and I have good vision.
Maybe if it lit up a bit more when the phone rings.
All and All I am satisfied but a bit disappointed.

I was shocked when I received this unit and hooked it up to my phone. It does not have the capability to display the caller ID on a call waiting call. That is one of the two most important features a device like this should have and it doesn't. terribly disappointing product.

*NOTE* PRODUCT UPDATE: 4/8/11 LESS THAN SIX MONTHS LATER THE DISPLAY STOPPED FUNCTIONING!!

Batteries don't last more than a day. screen goes blank I bought 4 aaa rechargable batteries, charge them and replaced the regular batteries. lasted one day, like it dosn't charge while pluged in..... Also, pluged in a cordless base phone base and the phone hangs up after dialing. pluged same phone elsewhere and it workes fine. in my opinion it's a piece of junk. This is the second item I've purchase through Anazon that has failed, I think I need to shop elsewhere.

Mine's been working since early this year, and I love it. It's in my work shop, and from across the room, I can see if I need to stop work to answer the phone. The auto dialback and one button calling of voice mail are also nice features.

I am unable to see the text. The background is the wrong color to be able to see the message. The unit should "Light Up" when a call is coming in. Very poor product Robin

I received the unit today, the shipping time from the supplier was very good. However there is no display, the backlight works but there is no data displayed. There are instructions to adjust the contrast but in order to do so you need to see the display of which there is none.

I purchased 3 of these units as the price was reasonable, I felt, for a large LCD that could be read from a distance. I received them in very short time, so have no issue there. However, when I plugged one of the units in, it initially showed good contrast on the LCD screen. I then proceeded to test the unit by calling my home phone from my cellphone. For whatever reason, the LCD display then went totally blank. So I went to the owner's manual to determine how to adjust the contrast.

Laughingly, the instructions indicated that I had to push a particular button until the display said something like "Adjust Contrast". But wait, I can't see the frigging display! It is a catch-22!! So after my laughter turned to anger, and after spending about 30 minutes blindly trying to change the contrast, I decided to return all 3 units.

I recommend not buying this unit because of the poor design, and if you ever somehow lose the contrast, you will have a very difficult time to get it back to where you can read the display.

This is basically a much larger version of a good quality Caller ID display. It provides all the information a quality display does in the normal format, but significantly larger so it is easier to read.

the philips caller ID was very easy to set up, one small problem is insallation of the battries. A small pointed object is needed, I used a ball point pen, to pry open the two latches that hold the battery cover on. other than that it works well, easy to read
