Great Sound on the Go

Built-in active noise cancelation for undisturbed enjoyment
With Noise Canceling technology, you can listen to music on the go without being affected by ambient noise. Earphone microphones detect ambient noise where it impacts you most and then a digital signal processor creates the necessary equal but opposite waveform to effectively cancel out the unwanted noise, thus bringing you closer to silence. The earphones' special design also provides exceptional sound isolation and a choice of three interchangeable ear caps to ensure a perfect fit.

FM radio with RDS and 20 presets for more music options
RDS (Radio Data System) is a communications protocol standard that allows digital information to be transmitted over FM radio broadcasts. RDS-enabled FM radio receivers can display this useful information that includes station identity, program details and song title and artist, etc. At anytime, you can store a desired station as a preset channel on your GoGear player. With 20 preset radio stations that can be stored, you can quickly access your favorite radio station without having to manually tune the frequencies each time.

This is the first MP3 player I ever purchased so I looked at all of the models that had at least 30GB as I didn't wish to keep deleting and adding songs all of the time. The IPod has always been out with me as I didn't want to deal with Apple's proprietary software. I looked at the Zune but at twelve ounces I thought it a little bulky, and I wanted strictly a music player as I have a laptop for video and photos. I kept looking at the Philips and at $189.95 is seemed to have the best bang for the buck. The noise canceling headphones were also an attractive item.

Upon receiving the unit the CD Rom made getting started easy. The battery charged quickly and after all the data was loaded into my computer putting MP3s into the player was a snap. The noise canceling headphones were as good as advertised and sound was top notch. The controls were firm and not at all flimsy and the player with the stainless steel bespoke of the usual Philips quality that comes in their products. I plugged the unit into my truck stereo and it never sounded so good. This machine is a winner.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so good, March 20, 2010

Bought 2 of these for my children, other daughter has an I-Pod. On the Go-Gear, if you move ahead a couple of songs the battery wears down a lot. Called tech support, and told me to do a soft re-set, did, still same problem!
If I had to do over I would have sacrificed the 32Gb for just an 8Gb and got 2 I-pods.
