4.0 out of 5 stars Great sound/convenience; back for more despite wire problems
I've tried many headphones and still find these have the best sound. I use them while on the treadmill; this is the only style that stays comfortably inside my ears, delivering awesome sound. I find that the ear-bud style falls out, while headphones that sit on top of your ears are too far from the eardrum, diluting the sound. These go inside, and stay inside. No other...

1.0 out of 5 stars please heed the warnings about the cheap wires
I didn't and paid the price.. I assumed the others handled their headphones too roughly thus they were experiencing broken cords. So I bought it, and suffered the same outcome. The cords are VERY cheap. They aren't flexible steel wires, they are cheap copper wires that after a frequent bending, they will break!

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT SUCKS. While the...

No other style gives a comparable sound. BUT......as other reviewers note, the wires are cheaply made and disconnect/break with time. I've gone through two pairs in about two years. Like another reviewer, however, I feel that I get $15 of value out of them and have decided to replace them when they break. This will be my third and fourth pair (I'm actually ordering two, one for the future). I'm not pleased about the ongoing cost, but I can't find any other that work nearly as well. LAST THOUGHT......I'm going to try using electrical tape with my next pair to see if I can secure the leads, minimize their being torqued, and get them to last longer. I'm also going to make an effort to be sure I keep them from getting bent, twisted or pulled.

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT SUCKS. While the headphones are very light and are decent sounding (not as great as one of the reviewers stated it was), the the wiring is very poor. They will DEFINITELY break at some point of regular use. And you won't be able to fix it. I tried to replace the wiring with better ones and basically broke the headphones in the process. There's no way to pop out the drivers, they're sealed permanently.

The wiring is so cheap you'll notice if you bend it in any way, it stays that way (cheap copper). This proved it was very maleable and susceptible to breakage after frequent (but normal) flexing.

Again, don't buy these speakers, you're better of spending it towards a different set that has better wires.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific sound quality, July 24, 2004

I have yet to find another set of headphones that have sound quality as good as these do. I use these for running, so I also like the snug fit. Very lightweight, so I don't even know they're there when running. Like some of the other reviewers, mine quit working in one of the ears - after 16 months of steady use. For only $15 bucks, I felt like I got my money's worth, which is why I'm buying another pair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Philips HS400 In-Ear Headphones (Electronics)
There a many kinds of headphones avaiable, but the only kind that work well for me are the in-ear kind. And these are the best I've ever come across = I get the Full Sound, loud and clear. Only one problem: The connectors to the earpieces could use some reinforcement = eventually they get tugged-on this way and that and the connection becomes loose and then, finally, lost. The manufacturer should put an extra piece of something or other to hold that connection firmly in place, even if there's some tugging going on...
Otherwise, I know of no better headphones for my purposes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loud and crisp., January 5, 2004

These headphones are perfect for all kinds of music. The clarity of sound is amazing considering the size of these things. When you flick on the bass boost (present on most portable audio players) your whole ear vibrates to the booming music.

They are also very comfortable. Also as the speakers are located at the tip of the headphone the music is directed right down your ear giving very little music leakage when you have the volume up high.

I would really advise buying these.

4 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really great sound..., but poor wires!, September 9, 2005

I agree with all the previous reviewers: the headphones are really nice. They fit well in your ears and give you a tremendous sound but... the wires are terribly weak! :-(
If Philips succeeds in correcting this "minor" (and annoying) problem they will have an unbeatable champ! For sure!

4.0 out of 5 stars So much louder than my others, August 16, 2005
This review is from: Philips HS400 In-Ear Headphones (Electronics)
I have three sets of lightweight headphones and when I use the other two on my MP3 player I have to turn the volume up way higher to hear the music than I do with these Phillips headphones. I wish I knew why that was because whatever feature it is I'd like to know so I can look for it in other headphones. My wires have begun to break, right at the thick reinforced part above the plug. I've wrapped electrical tape around the broken area and also lashed the cord to the belt clip of the player to keep the wire in a set position. But I know this arrangement will not last long so am looking to replace. I must say, in spite of the weak wires, these headphones have served me well for over two years. I am a small person and all headphones are a bit too big for me even on the tightest position but the rubbery headband helps because it clings to the top of my baseball cap and stays put.

i bought these, hoping to use them while working out. the sound quality was great, they were nice and lightweight, but within 2 lousy weeks one side went staticky and then stopped altogether. i do not recommend these for anything other than gentle use. wish i'd read some of the other comments before i got them!
