Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Stylishly designed with sleek lines in silver and a compact sensibility, the Philips HTS3410/37 home theater system can handle just about any disc and multi-channel sound format you can throw at it. The amplifier's integrated DVD player is compatible with a wide variety of disc formats and digital files, including DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, MP3, and JPEG (Picture CD). It also offers a digital AM/FM radio tuner features a total of 40 station presets, auto tuning, and auto store functionality. The HTS3410/37 provides 700 total watts of power (6 x 115 watts per channel), and includes a passive subwoofer, center channel speaker, and four satellite speakers.

The built-in DTS and Dolby Digital decoders eliminate the need for an external decoder by processing all six channels of audio information to provide a surround sound experience and an astoundingly natural sense of ambience and dynamic realism. Dolby Pro Logic II provides five channels of surround processing from any stereo source.

The six-channel Class D amplifier provides dramatically enhanced sound quality over digital amplifiers used by competitors as it's designed to control and reduce EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference). In addition, it uses a closed loop design which suppresses distortion and loss of audio quality. Digital amplifiers, in general, also generate far less heat than standard analog amplifiers, allowing for smaller set enclosures.

Its 192 KHz sampling enables you to have an accurate representation of the original sound curves. Together with a 24-bit resolution, more information is captured from the original analogue sound wave form, giving a much richer audio reproduction. Other features include color-coded connectors for simple set-up, PAL/NTSC playback, JPEG photo slideshows (with zoom and rotate functionality), and tri-lingual menu display (English, French, Spanish). It offers the following video and audio connections:

  • Composite AV (RCA) Out: 1
  • S-Video Out: 1
  • Component Video Out (Y PB PR): 1
  • RF In: 1
  • Coaxial digital audio Out: 1
  • AM and FM antenna
  • Headphone
The speakers offer the following specifications:
  • Subwoofer: 6.5-inch high-efficiency woofer
  • Center Channel: 1-inch conical dome tweeter, two 3-inch full range woofers (magnetically shielded)
  • Satellites: 1-inch conical dome tweeter, 3-inch full range woofer

1.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, horrible DVD, May 12, 2006

This review is from: Philips HTS3410/37 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
The sound on this system is really fantastic for the price, but I've had the same experience as the other reviewer. The DVD skips constantly, and Phillips is absolutely no help in fixing the problem. Amazon has been great and has offered to give a 50% credit, but Phillips insists that I send (at my own expense) the machine to them and then wait 4+ weeks to have a 'possibly' refurbished unit. I'm quite disappointed with Phillips and its lack of customer service.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy from Philips!!, May 11, 2006
This review is from: Philips HTS3410/37 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
This system is quite sleek, easy to fit in a cluttered living room. Assembly takes about two minutes. The instructions are very clear. The sound is amazing, especially when you put on your favorite loud, bass-heavy film. Why then do I give it one star?

It skips. Like nobody's business. At first, my wife and I thought it was the disks we were putting in as many of them were scratched. But then we put in new disks. No difference. When exactly does it skip? Impossible to tell. Sometimes a little. Sometimes every frame! Sometimes it'll tell us that disks are bad. Then the next time we put them in they magically work -- until they skip.

So I called Philips and they said that not only would we have to pay for shipping, but they could not guarantee that they would fix it, and it would take up to a month before they'd ship it back.

Save your money! Buy from someone else!

This home theater system is great! It was fairly easy to setup with detailed instructions. Once connected the sound is phenomenal and clear. Highly recommended for the price you pay!
