Disappointing...,
This review is from: Philips HTS3450 DVD/5.1 Surround Home Theater with USB Direct (Electronics)
After 9 months of owning the unit, I was pretty much satisified. That is until the subwoofer died on me one day. Luckily since it's still within the manufacturer's warranty, Philips has agreed to honor the terms. Unfortunately, according to the repair technician, the unit was "unavailable" for replacement. I have to ship the entire unit (at my own cost) and either it will be repaired or replaced. Hopefully things will work out...Regardless, I'm looking at new home theater systems just in case...I just find it totally unacceptable that a unit of this caliber will fail without even a year of use.

Loved it until....You guessed it. Sub-woofer died! after only 9 months. Customer Service was no help. Can't find the receipt. So I'm out $200. Guy at electonics repair said he could order part, but it cost $300. I haved owned lots of philips products never had this kind of problem. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Dead Subwoofer,

Same as above. I'll never buy another Philips product. I've discovered that this is such a problem, that they should have recalled these. Mine failed after about 14 months, and it's not as though it was used every day. I would definitely not recommend buying this product.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Same as the above- dead subwoofer. Mine died after the warranty expired though. I have personally had other Phiilips products die before their time too. Stay away from the brand its rubbish.

So everyone who buys this speaker set ends up with the same complaint. After owning it for roughly a year, the subwoofer will stop functioning (either slowly or instantly). This is due to two bad capacitors on the subwoofer's power supply board. You can fix it yourself for relatively cheap (about $3 for parts if you already have the tools and solder).Either way, this is really unacceptable. I guess Philips really is just going downhill.

Same as others, the Subwoofer died after 12 months, I called Philips and they informed me that the warranty period ended and they will not be able to do anything... It's a pretty shameful reply. But I will stay away with Philips products.

As many before myself have said, my sub woofer died and the sound no longer works after 12 months. PHILIPS suggested a local repair center, but I'm not bothering to call due to it most likely being more expensive than the actual product.

Subwoofer problem,
This review is from: Philips HTS3450 DVD/5.1 Surround Home Theater with USB Direct (Electronics)
Everything was great until my subwoofer started giving me problems about a year and a half after I bought the system. At first it would buzz for 10-20 seconds before it warmed up, but everytime I turn it off, it would take longer to warm up each time. Now it takes 40 minutes and I'm pretty sure I've gotten as much as I can out of it. Sounds like alot of people have had the same problem, only theirs died completely. Phillips and Magnavox used to have top-notch products(I still have a Magnavox stereo and CD player console that my parents bought back in 1990 that still works great!), but after buying this home theater system and seeing how many people have had problems with this, I will stay away from these products in the future
