Stylishly designed with sleek lines in silver and a compact sensibility, the Philips HTS3410/37 home theater system can handle just about any disc and multi-channel sound format you can throw at it. The amplifier's integrated 5-disc DVD changer is compatible with a wide variety of disc formats and digital files, including DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3, WMA, JPEG (Picture CD), MPEG4, and DivX. It also offers a digital AM/FM radio tuner features a total of 20 station presets, auto tuning, and auto store functionality. The HTS5500/37 provides 900 total watts of power (6 x 150 watts per channel), and includes a passive subwoofer, center channel speaker, and four satellite speakers.

The built-in DTS and Dolby Digital decoders eliminate the need for an external decoder by processing all six channels of audio information to provide a surround sound experience and an astoundingly natural sense of ambience and dynamic realism. Dolby Pro Logic II provides five channels of surround processing from any stereo source.

Its 192 KHz sampling enables you to have an accurate representation of the original sound curves. Together with a 24-bit resolution, more information is captured from the original analogue sound wave form, giving a much richer audio reproduction. Other features include color-coded connectors for simple set-up, PAL/NTSC playback, JPEG photo slideshows (with zoom and rotate functionality), and tri-lingual menu display (English, French, Spanish). It offers the following video and audio connections:

Tech Talk
Picture CD is a CD-R or CD-RW disc on which you can store your MP3 and digital pictures. When inserting a Picture CD in the DVD player, a screen menu will pop up, showing your JPEG's and/or MP3 files on the disc. Just select the music and pictures files you wish to enjoy and press play or OK. You can watch your pictures on TV with your music playing simultaneously.

Dynamic Bass Boost maximizes your music enjoyment by emphasizing the bass content of the music throughout the range of volume settings--from low to high--at the touch of a button. Bottom-end bass frequencies usually get lost when the volume is set at a low level. To counteract this, Dynamic Bass Boost can be switched on to boost bass levels, so you can enjoy consistent sound even when you turn down the volume

This is a great all-in-one unit for people who don't want components with wires everywhere. The functionality of the 5-disc changer is excellent. If you load audio CDs in the trays, it plays the disc all the way through then skips to the next disc. Switching DVDs is as easy as pressing a button on the front panel or remote control.

The sound quality is better than I expected, honestly. It's not terribly loud, but the quality of the sound is very good. Each speaker has a functional tweeter along with its full-range speaker. The subwoofer is strong enough to balance the sound from the satellite speakers and contains the amplifier circuitry. A small fan on the back of the subwoofer spins only when needed and is silent.

The picture quality is very good as well. A 12-bit D-to-A converter makes for smooth video quality. Outputs for composite, S-video, and component (interlaced or progressive scan) are available.

The DVD player also features three audio INPUTS so you can hook up audio components. Two of the inputs are analog (RCA-type) and one is digital (RCA/coaxial-type). It would've been nice for a video input so you can switch video sources like a game system.

This player can play almost any disc. CD, MP3, DivX, DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD-TEXT, MPEG-4, and others. It handles recorded media (e.g., CD-R, DVD-R) quite nicely and can be made region-free with the same key sequence as the previous model. This is a very good DVD player if you don't need a lot of volume.

I really love my new surround sound entertainment center. It is very easy to connect, the speaker wires are very long to give good range. Everything is color coated for easy connect. Sounds amazing, shakes the house when I want it to and it can also be used at a relaxing volume. No problems with it, great product!

I love my Phillips Surround Sound. I love the clarity of the sound and the ease of use is wonderful. My son-in-law hooked it all up for me so I can't say much about that except he got finished very quickly. He loves anything by Phillips. It was by his recommendation that I purchased this systems. I think you would be very satisfied with this product.
