Product Description

Designed for the thrill seeker, the Philips O'Neill CRASH Headphones are the toughest headphone Philips has ever created. Not only can they withstand 1.5 tons of static force, they also deliver mind-blowing sound in high-def quality. If you’re the adventurous type who lives life to the extreme, these headphones are along for the ride. Metal chambers, reinforced connectors, tough fabric cable, and a TR90 flexible headband ensure durability and comfort whether you're enjoying tunes at the beach or rocking it along the ski slopes. The CRASH has acoustically tuned 40-millimeter neodymium drivers for precise clarity and deep bass to get you in the zone. And when you're not rocking out to music, use the Chill Mode to wear the headphones comfortably around your neck.

Chill Out Mode for Comfortable Wearing

When you aren't listening to music, you can relax the CRASH headphones around your neck using the Chill Mode. Simply slide the lever on the headband down to spread the earcans wider for comfortable wearing, so they don't sit under the chin area.

Noise-Isolating Cushions Provide Comfort

Soft, noise-isolating leather cushions enclose the speakers around your ears to create an effective seal. Designed to alleviate pressure on your ears, these cushions not only offer a comfortable fit for extended listening durations, but also help minimize sound leakage, letting you enjoy every detail of your music.

In-line Microphone and Controls

For convenience, the CRASH headphones come with an in-line microphone and remote, so you can easily switch between music and phone calls.

Acoustically Tuned Neodymium Drivers for High-Definition Sound

The CRASH headphones feature 40-millimeter neodymium drivers to create a rich and satisfying listening experience. Acoustically tuned for professional audio quality, these drivers boast a wide frequency response of 12 to 24,000 hertz to deliver crisp highs and deep lows, reproducing your favorite music in high-definition sound.

The tough-built cable, connectors, and headband withstand up to 100,000 bending cycles.

I was nervous about this product because of lack of reviews and possible bogus reviews that were present. But this was all put aside when i plugged them into my computer and they sounded amazing. I feel i am a slight audiofile. I wasnt impressed when they were plugged into my iphone but that could be for many reasons. These are also very comfortable around the neck and head. If you put them in " comfort mode" they lay nicely around the neck but if you don't they double as a comfy neck supporter lol. These head phones are rather large but oh well. I did pass these around testing them out on a few friends who have beats who say that these are as good if not better then the beats.

I prefer to spend money on reliable, hard-to-break, good-quality things. These headphones seemed to fit the criteria. As usual, with anything you intend to wear, it is a good idea to try it on first. This purchase was an impulse as I did not bother to find a store to check them out.
With headphones on, from the front, you look like a weird alien; google cheburashka. That's about the look you'll have.
I did not consider it too much, but wife immediately pointed out that fact. It would still be OK to wear at home... if not for another minor problem, my head hurts after wearing the headphones for more than 20 minutes.
Other than those two problems, the rest is OK. I like the short, detachable, spring cord. The in-cord, iDevice controls are extremely useful.

To start off, I am no audiophile. I know what I think sounds good, and that's enough for me. There has been a lot of debate on these headphones, and while most of it is subjective, I will be throwing in my two cents. They are big, comfortable, and made extremely well. As the name implies, they are virtually indestructible. The ear cushions are awesome too.

I have noticed that it is hit or miss for me, sometimes I can wear them an entire day and not notice and other times I can wear them for ten minutes and have to take them off.

I got them on sale for $100 and I feel like that is about as much as I would ever pay for them. But like I said, I am not an audiophile so I wouldn't pay much more than that for ANY pair of headphones.

Overall, if you need a beefy, well made pair of headphones that do sound good, give them a go.

Where do I start.....

I did not purchase these on amazon, I actually paid much more for mine through best-buy but thought i would come here to share my review since their are NONE.

WOW, Philips out-did themselves this time. I have been a Philips headphone owner for years and years, These are something else. They are made to last forever.

Lets start with the look, These headphones are extremely comfortable due to the flexibility and different size you can adjust these to. the inside top have the best cushion i have seen so far on any headphone. Made Of leather. They also have this mode where you can expand the headphone so when its around your neck, It feels extra comfy. Called "chill out mode" . The ear cone goes over year ear, Canceling any noise. Its also made of leather and feels very snug, It pivots to fit any shave head or ears and adjusts accordingly.

The wire is impossible to tangle up, They are made of this cotton material and has a good thickness/Quality to them. unlike other headphones, The wire connects to the top part of the headphone which is very unique and tends to stay out your way. i personally use these at the gym because i enjoy them so much and like to show off my new tor. Their is a microphone with volume control remote on the wire as well. I answer my phone calls while listening to music with ease, And when done talking on the phone it goes right back to music. Has pause and play functions as well as volume up and down.

DO NOT, buy beats headphones. you want the best high end headphones, and get what you pay for, This is it. Philips has been around enough to back up their products. The sound is incredible. Handles 1.5 Tons of static force. DAYUM.

Got this on a gold box deal, really wanted the X1 version, but I thought I would give these a try out. First impression was solid construction but had problems with fit, way too tight for my large head, and had some sound issues at higher frequencies. Sometimes I would get a sound that was just too harsh for my ears ... not all the time but enough times to take notice.

Sound is great! The only thing you should be aware of is they are a little heavier then many other over the ear headphones.

I'm a bit of a headphone snob, but I had to try these for the price. They're pretty damn good! They're a little bassy for me, but for anyone who listens to hip hop or other bass heavy music, and likes an emphasis on the low-end of the spectrum, these are some nice cans!

I tried replacing the cable as suggested by other reviewers, and I can hear a modest difference. It's not a deal breaker to me since an upgraded cable can be purchased for about $6.

Three of my coworkers have purchased these since listening to mine. They were looking at Beats (something I would never personally consider), and purchased these instead. From what they've told me, the sound quality is better than Beats costing twice this much.

For me, they're just a fun headphone to listen to when I'm kicking back. EXCELLENT for movies on my tablets!
