Works well, and is holding up to my 3 year old at least for now. We watch dvds from both the US and Europe, so the region-free aspect of this device is great (no more watching the German ones on the computer only).

This hasn't been a problem for us, but you should be aware that it doesn't charge while it is playing (unlike most laptop computers).

The screen is fine, controls straightforward, and the remote works well also.

I love this product. Holds a charge a long time. great screen quality and sound. Easily connects to my big screen to view..I can use this DVD player all over the house and it plays our French and American DVD's just fine. I gave it four stars because it will not play while it is charging...bummer. That makes it a bit inconvenient. But the charge does last a long time so that is good. I would definately reccomend.

This 2010 Philips 9" Portable Multi Region Code Free DVD player plays all dvds as stated. This player shows all types of hand prints/smudges. I highly suggest your purchase a different color if available.

This portable player is compact, well-designed, and well-made. It comes with a number of extras that includes a remote control, an AC adapter, and a car adapter that allows you to plug in and recharge from a 12 volt outlet on your car's dashboard. Another plus are patch cords that allow the player to be connected to a television and so that the unit acts not just as a DVD player, but also as a converter from PAL format to NTSC if you're playing a non-Region 1 DVD. There is also a cover and "sling" that allows the player to be hung from the back of a car seat for viewing in the backseats of a vehicle.

I've played Region 1, Region 2 PAL, Region 0 PAL, and DVD-R disks in this player without any problems, except in the case of one Dutch DVD which turned out to be a bad DVD; the disk in question wouldn't fully play on my full size Region-free player or on the DVD player in my computer.

Several reviewers have complained that the unit does not charge the battery if you've got it plugged into an AC source while playing a DVD. I haven't found this to be an issue or a problem. I simply plug in the player for recharging occasionally when I know I won't be needing it to keep the battery fully charged.

The quality of the display is crisp and the sound quality is good. Listening via earphones is an option through the earphone jacks, but no earbuds or earphones are included in the package.

The only thing I'd change about this player would be to make the on-off switch and volume control on the sides a bit larger. I have small hands, but often have trouble with the on-off switch as it's difficult to get a good grip on it so my fingers sometimes slip off. A slightly larger volume control would make it easier to find.

It is very difficult to get anything available here in the USA that is also set up to work with voltage, PAL/NTSC systems. and which also plays DVDs from all regions overseas. This is a well made product for the price.

DVD player worked as advertised for DVDs from both the US and South American regions. The battery lasted a long time and was a great asset when the trip took longer than expected. It is a bit sensitive to motion, but all in all it was worthwile purchase.

Bought this for long air travel to help keep the family entertained. It has done everything expected and is an overall success. The picture and sound are good and the controls are simple and intuitive. We are not audio/videophiles so take that into consideration.

One design downside is that the DVD cover open latch is a little too easy to accidentally hit, thus popping open the player which stops it from playing.

wanted my son to learn another language and have been buying DVDs in that language.... but the dvds are from that region and won't work on our dvd players!! Thus, I had no other choice but to request this as a Xmas present for my little guy. Took a while to figure out how to make the DVD multiregion, but once we figure it out (about 1-2 hours!), the player works fine. The top gets stuck (can't get the DVD out) so you have to use your nails to pull the top off to get out/in the DVD, and the battery life is not exactly the longest, but for a multiregion, this is as good as you're gonna get.
