This system sounds and looks great, but it does NOT come with an iPod cradle!! On the box it specifically states that the iPod cradle must be purchased separately...although I have not been able to find it yet on Amazon or any other website!

Great product,

I love this shelf system. It added modern look to my family room. The fact that the top is not black did not bother me cause the mirror design alowed me to see different dimentions, and reflect the colors of the room, for example I have an light espresso color wall against it and it is reflected on my philips unit which makes it blend-in perfectly in any room. The sound is clear and crisp. I placed the subwoofer on the floor, under the lowest self, this way I get all the BASS in an invisible way. I love it. After all if I wanted a louder "professional party sound" I have to get one of those huge speakers and other huge equipment.
The romote is extremely helful and has a sleek look. I was also able to buy the i-pod dock online. In all I think it was the best choice i made eventhough I bought it for $10 more than Amazon price which i could have saved.

The system has acceptable sound quality, and good looks. However, as the other reviewer correctly stated, it does NOT come with an iPod cradle. Instead, you simply have the *option* of purchasing a separate iPod cradle accessory.
The system is also underpowered; it is quieter than an acoustic piano.

This system is awesome! I've been looking for this particular system for a while and I almost gave up on the search. It fits the decorum of my condo perfectly! The sound is great!!! The subwoofer definitely serves its purpose!!!! Gives the system a nice KICK!!! Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. Also, the shipping was very prompt and the packaging of the system was very well done.

Not a bad system, but one critical flaw with input options,

The audio from this system isn't too bad if you aren't trying to fill a huge room or create a dance party. However, the system has one critical flaw related to its inputs.
You can buy a separate iPod dock to use your iPod as an input. This works alright for an iPod, but doesn't help with other MP3 players or a computer where you want to use a mini-jack line/aux input. If you simply connect the line out on a computer to the line in to the subwoofer and select 'Dock' on the system, you get no sound. Here's the secret -- you need to have an iPod on the dock and the mini USB cable connected in order to send the correct signal to the system to play sound. So, place any iPod on the dock and make sure the mini USB cable is connecting the dock to the subwoofer. Then, connect the aux mini jack from your chosen source (MP3 player, computer, etc) to the rear of the subwoofer, instead of from the dock. You may want to cut the cable a bit so that you can separate the jacks on the input side. Now, you can play any aux input, not just an iPod. Although this is inconvenient, it saves the system from being useless for aux input.

I think this stereo system is an excellent purchase, though no system is perfect there is no disappointment in purchasing this to here the music you love. I am not upset with the trivial things missing as some have commented on and the volume is sufficient for me, any louder and I would go deaf. No one in my opinion will be disappointed in the purchase of this unit.

The system does have a great look. That's were the good stuff ends. We purchased this unit refurbished, which means we expected it to have a few scratches or dings. However the unit arrived with the wrong remote control. It did not have the antenna in the box at all, which means I can only get a couple a radio stations. The sound quality is okay but with such a huge heavy woofer, you'd expect a little bass. I'm not trying to throw a party or anything,I just like to listen to my old blues and jazz CDs and I like to have some bass and range on my music to appreciate the true sound.
Also, the dang thing is defective. The sliding glass door wouldn't stay closed. I thought I was going to have to send this unit back which would be really frustrating as this is the third time purchasing a stereo system and having to return it due to defects. However, I've found if I pull the door closed manually myself then it will lock in place and then I can play the CD. At this point I am so sick of the whole thing that I'd rather keep what I have, defects and all, and stop the aggravation. BTW, I called the company and after being transferred and redirected 3 or 4 times, I was finally able to speak with someone and after a little back and forth, they agreed to send me the right remote control and antenna.

I wasted my money,

The pictures of this product look nice. In fact, the design IS nice. Too bad the product isn't. The subwoofer might-as-well not even be attached. It has about .0001 watt of power I think. The speaker cables are some strange proprietary system that doesn't even allow you to hook up a 3rd party sub-woofer if you had one (like I was hoping to do after hearing this one).
Very much too bad also, because this could have been a really nice product for the footprint it has and the decent price. When you see a powered, tuned-port sub-woofer on a stereo, you kind of expect at least a little bass. I was absolutely, 100% disappointed though.

I love the look. i however had a problem trying to find the ipod dock, until i finally called the philips company and the directed me to order the replacement parts for them. I do however have a problem with the amount of power in the system. i.e not loud enough for my liking
