Great Product and Value,

I have used this with my own burned mp3 disk in an over-the-road tractor & trailer, which is a pretty nasty atmosphere for any cd player! The only time this one lost it's place was when it fell on the floor from the dash, which has happened too many times, but still plays perfectly. It's too bad they quit making this one, but when do they stick with a winner?

Lacks Some Key Features,

I intended to use this device in my car as an MP3 player. Listen to it sequentially, shut it off to leave the car, and then pick up where I left off when I start the car again. It took me 5 minutes to decide to return it. If these missing features are important to you, you should avoid this unit also:
1. It doesn't remember any of its settings between power-offs. Even the volume must be re-selected. 2. It doesn't remember its position on the CD between power-offs. It always starts over again at track #1. If you have an MP3 CD with 300+ songs on it, you will have to press the "track skip" button 250 times to start listening at the 250th song, for example, or else get sick of listening to the beginning of the CD over and over. 3. It doesn't display the song title and artist on the display. It only displays the track # and position (minutes & seconds) within the track.

Not very good.,

This is the worst piece of electronics that I've encountered in the past 2 years. Stops for no apparent reason. When it starts back up, fails to see the disk repeatedly. Very sensitive to jitter, even when the player is on the anti-skip mode. The hinge for it is flimsy. Every option goes back to default after each stop, so I have to spend a minute adjusting it each time. The bad news is that this is the worst portable audio that I've every used. The good news is that this is good for the economy, because I'll have to spend more money (buying another player soon).

I bought this for using mp3 cd's (old time radio shows) but 3/4 of them would not work with this product. Other than that it works great. Unfortunately money spent on something that does not meet expectations.

Amazing CD/MP3 player!,

I love this contemporary looking CD/MP3 player. After I bought it, I don't use my IPod touch any more. This player does all the jobs perfectly. The sound quality is surprisingly good. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves music.

We like this because the top window is easy to read. MP3 capability is also useful.,

For people who like to keep things as simple as possible, or if someone in your family has trouble working gadgets, this is about the best. The placement of the LCD window on the top, and the user-friendly navigation buttons, make a difference.
As for MP-3, you can of course get an MP-3 player, which will use much fewer batteries. But burning to disc has its advantages. You can organize whatever little or much you want onto each disc. One for your favorite music, another for meditation or learning languages, etc. Sometimes its even better not to convert to MP-3, to put less on each disc so you don't need to do so much seeking or scrolling if you want to focus on one subject. Possibly by using mini-discs you might also cut down on battery usage. For frequent use at home or in the car, I would suggest an AC or car adapter. As for reliability and longevity, these gadgets all have their lifespans and you can always get a lemon. Nothing is perfect. This one is about as good as it gets. I personally would like to change to using SD cards, but everyone else in my family likes discs so we are sticking with this machine. We've used up several of various brands and models, and can't find anything better than this.

I use this CD player for my daily meditation, first the LCD screen fade, then the CD stop working at all, I went to the Philips website where I registered the device, and for my surprise there is not warranty.
