Surround yourself with real theater sound with the Philips MX5500D 5-Disc Home Entertainment System. It combines an integrated DVD digital surround sound receiver featuring a 5-disc DVD changer with one powered subwoofer and five compact satellite speakers. It pumps out 500 watts of total power and decodes both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround sound for maximum sound effects.

The five speakers (left, right, center, and two rear, all with 100 watts of output) are acoustically specially designed to match the tonal characteristics of the receiver. Front left, right and center channel are magnetically protected to prevent any interference with television picture tube purity. The 85-watt powered subwoofer adds dynamism to normal music and motion pictures and sets the stage for a more intense sensation.

The five-disc, progressive scan DVD changer/player plays DVD and Video CD discs as well as CD, CD-R/RW discs recorded on a CD recorder. It can also play back your own burned MP3-CDs recorded with a bit-rate between 32 kbps and 320 kbps. The tuner presets can be used to store AM and FM stations (40 in total). Each of the presets can be given a user defined name of up to 8 characters. It provides the following connections:
