I had another Norelco shaver for the last 5 (or more) years. The difference in the shaves is striking. Both less pain when my stubble is a little long and closer.

However, the reason this shaver is cheaper is that there is 1 battery inside it instead of 2. I know this because I took it in to be "repaired" because I only got 8 shaves to a charge. I talked (online) with Norelco and they said my shaver was broken. So, I looked up on the Norelco site a local authorized repair shop. I took it in and the guy opened it up. He said it was one of the "cheap" versions that has 1 instead of 2 batteries.

My old shaver, over most of its life, gave me 25 or so shaves before needing to be recharged. That's quite a difference.

As someone who has a heavy beard, electric razors and their effectiveness are very important to me. I have owned this razor for a year now, and can offer a couple of observations: 1) I agree that the battery life is at best unpredictable. Sometimes the charge seems to last weeks, other times not. 2) The look of the razor is rather cheap, and would probably dismay you if you've owned Norelco razors in the distant past (10+ years) as I have. 3) Despite those two criticisms, it does what it is supposed to do, and that is give a very good shave and for the price, a very good bargain.

The batteries last a long time and recharge quickly.
Floating heads are confortable, but don't seem to shave a closely as my previous Norelco.

Norelco used to be German. The new Norelco is useful and adequate for touch-ups before that important meeting, but don't expect a really close shave. I get about 10 shaves per charge and this is a bear to clean.

Norelco seems to be counting its marks so it does not even include a small brush for cleaning the whiskers out of the rotary blades. If it had not been on sale for $49.99 with a $30 rebate (for 2), I would not have purchased 1 each for my son and me.

I bought this shaver after I read the product review here. I've been using this shaver for several months now. It just a Ok shaver for price.

I am above-average hairy guy. Each charge only lasts probably 10 days for me. Again, the shave is not very close, just OK. I paid about 60$ for it... probably that's just what you could expect for the shaver around the price

This shaver was my first shaver and I got it when I was 15. I really like it because it gives me a close shave and doesn't irritate my skin hardly at all. The trimmer on the side is almost useles, but the rest of the system is outstanding. It doesn't take long to charge and can hold the charge for a long time. It is a great option for anyone to buy and I highly recomend it.

Gave this as a gift to my elderly father-in-law. It lasted about a month, and would no longer run. It is made kind of cheap with plastic, and he may have cleaned it with alcohol or something similar that melted the plastic..

This is a very low end Norelco razor that I would not recommend. It is not compatable with other Norelco accessories, such as cutting heads, chargers, etc.

As noted, you just change the blades every year or so to get "like new" performance. I actually get about 18 months out of them, but I do not have a very heavy beard. I like the fact that you can leave it plugged in and not damage the battery. As with many folks here, I get 8-9 shaves per charge. I always let it drain almost completely before recharging.

Also: Amazon is the place to get the replacement blades, especially with free shipping. Just can't depend on Walmart, etc. to have them.

Convenient to use, good battery life, good shave for an electric shaver, but still not as good as a blade. Also a little hard to use at edges, such as sideburns, under and around nose.
